1. Hwang Kee

    Hwang Kee (November 9, 1914 - July 14, 2002) was the founder of the martial arts system known as Soo Bahk Do Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan, a modern Korean martial art.

  2. Jae Chul Shin

    Jae Chul Shin (born 20 December 1936) is a martial artist, Grandmaster of the World Tang Soo Do Association, and the populariser of Tang Soo Do (tangsudo) in the United States. In 1968 he came to the United States as the U. S. representative for the Korean Tang Soo Do Association. He formed the U. S. Tang Soo Do Federation in Burlington, New Jersey in 1968. This traditional Korean Martial Art grew in popularity throughout the world.

  3. Howard Jackson

    Howard E. Jackson (1951 - 7 March 2006) was a noted American kickboxer, point Karate fighter, and professional boxer. He was born in 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, the oldest of four children; two brothers died violent deaths, and his parents died early as well, leaving only Howard and his sister Corliss. He began studying Kung Fu in 1967, switching to Tang Soo Do soon after, and earning his black belt in 1970 from Hwang Kee.

    Darnell Garcia is an American martial artist and practitioner of karate and Tang Soo Do. He was born in New York and raised in California. He is a former International Karate Champion and teacher. He is the author of two books: "The Fighting Art of Tang Soo Do" and "Explosive Instinct and Mind Power."

    William "Billy" Zabka born in New York City, New York) is an American actor. Zabka is best known for playing "bully" types, such as his role as Johnny Lawrence in 1984's "The Karate Kid". Zabka's family is of Czechoslovak descent; the Czech translation of "Zabka" is "Little Frog."

  6. Kyongwon Ahn

    Kyongwon Ahn was born in Seoul, Korea. His training in the martial arts began when he was twelve years old and continued through his residence in Korea. He served an internship with his instructor, Chang Bok Lee, as the Master Instructor for the Korean and American armies from 1955 through 1967. In August of 1967 he emigrated ot the United States and began teaching Tang Soo Do at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio.

  7. Dana Rosenblatt

    "Dangerous" Dana Rosenblatt (b. January 26, 1972, in Malden, Massachusetts) was a left-handed professional boxer who held a variety of minor boxing titles. Rosenblatt began practicing martial arts at age 13 and earned a black belt in Tang Soo Do when he was 16. He also took up Judo when he was 16, and earned a brown belt. He began competing as an amateur kickboxer at age 15, and won the U.S. amateur middleweight title.

  8. Tang Soo Do

    Tang Soo Do means "the art of the knife hand" or "the way of the Chinese hand." It contains characteristics of Chinese internal methods and Japanese striking styles. Tang Soo Do is a modern martial art and it's purpose is to develop every aspect of the 'self' in order to produce a mature person who can totally integrate his intellect, emotions, body and spirit. Tang Soo Do , is not a sport and its primary goal is not a competitive one.

  9. Tang Soo Do

    Tang Soo Do was the Korean pronunciation of the Hanja characters 唐手道, which in Japanese are pronounced Karate-do. In English, the characters translate to 'The way of the Tang hand'. These Hanja characters were first used to describe the Okinawan empty-hand martial arts system, since their system was derived from Chinese martial arts skills that originated during the Tang Dynasty.
