Mike Binder (born 1958) is an American screenwriter, film director and actor. A native of Detroit, Mike Binder grew up in a Jewish community within Birmingham, one of the city's suburbs, and attended Camp Tamakwa, on which he based his 1993 film "Indian Summer". Binder began his career as a standup comedian. This led to his own HBO "One Night Stand" special. Binder's first screenplay, "Coupe de Ville" (1990), was directed by Joe Roth.

I grew up all over the world as my father was a geologist for an oil company. I grew up in Argentina, Libya, Trinidad and Tobago, Northbrook, Illinois and Bolivia. My favorite place was Trinidad and Tobago. I thought that everyone had papaya and coconut trees in their back yard. I grew up in a house on a hillside that overlooked the ocean. The house completely opened up and recieved marvelous sea breezes at various times of the day.
