  1. Michael Misick

    Michael Eugene Misick (born February 2, 1966) has been the chief minister of the Turks and Caicos Islands between August 15, 2003-August 9, 2006 and the first Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands from August 9th, 2006-present. Misick is a member of the conservative Progressive National Party, and became chief minister when his party, after eight years as the opposition party, gained two parliamentary seats in by-elections.

  2. Richard Tauwhare

    Richard Tauwhare (born 1959) is the tenth and current Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands since 11 July 2005. He succeeded acting Governor Mahala Wynns. Originally from Woking, United Kingdom, Mr Tauwhare has held several government posts around the world. He has a MA in History from Cambridge University, and can speak the Swahili language. Mr Tauwhare is married and has three children.

  3. John Kelly

    John Kelly (born 1941) was Governor of the British overseas territory Turks and Caicos Islands from October 1996 to January 2000. He was succeeded by Mervyn Jones on January 27, 2000.

  4. Lisaraye McCoy

    Lisa Raye McCoy-Misick (born September 23 1967 in Meridian, Mississippi) is an African American actress. She is also the First Lady of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

  5. Tanya Streeter

    Tanya Streeter, born January 10 1973 in Grand Cayman, is a world champion free-diver, who made her first important breakthrough in 1998 when she bettered Deborah Andollo's Women's No Limits diving record by 10 feet, achieving a total depth of 370 feet (113 m). Streeter has been known to hold her breath under water for up to 6 minutes. Streeter was inducted into the Women Diver's Hall of Fame in March 2000.

  6. Norman Saunders

    Norman B. Saunders (born 1943) is a former politician from the Turks and Caicos Islands. He served as the island territory's Chief Minister from November 1980 until 28 March 1985 when he was forced to resign after being arrested in Miami, Florida on drug trafficking charges. He was replaced by deputy Chief Minister Nathaniel Francis.

  7. Washington Misick

    Washington Misick (born 1950) is a politician from the Turks and Caicos Islands. He served as the island territory's Chief Minister from April 1991 to 31 January 1995.

  8. Gavin Glinton

    Gavin Glinton (born March 1 1979 in Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos Islands) is a Turks & Caicos Islands soccer striker who currently plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer. Glinton joined USL First Division team Charleston Battery for the 2006 season. The Bradley University product was drafted by Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy in 2002 before transferring to the Dallas Burn in 2003.

    Mary Prince (1788-?1833) was a Bermudian woman, born into slavery in Brackish Pond. Her parents were both slaves: her father was a sawyer owned by David Trimmingham, and her mother a house-servant of Charles Myners. He served as the island territory's Chief Minister from 19 June 1980 to November 1980 and again from 3 March 1988 to April 1991. Oswald O’Neil Skippings became the youngest member of a Caribbean government ever when he was first elected to the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) legislature in 1976 at the age of 22.

    Nathaniel J.S. Francis (1912-2004) was a politician from the Turks and Caicos Islands. He served as the island territory's Chief Minister from 28 March 1985 until 25 July 1986, when he was forced to resign after charges of corruption and patronage were leveled against him.

  14. Lewis St. George Stubbs

    Lewis St. George Stubbs (June 14, 1878-May 12, 1958) was a prominent judge and politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1936 to 1949 as an Independent, and was known for promoting left-wing and socially progressive causes. Stubbs was born on the island of Cockburn Harbour in the Turks and Caicos Islands, in the British West Indies.

  15. James Alexander George Smith McCartney

    James Alexander George Smith McCartney (30 June 1945-9 May 1980) also known as J.A.G.S McCartney was a politician from the Turks and Caicos Islands. He was the island territory's first Chief Minister and held that position from August 1976 until 9 May 1980, when he died in a plane crash over New Jersey. National Heroes Day, a holiday celebrated on the last Monday in May, commemorates the life of McCartney.

  16. Derek Hugh Taylor

    Derek Hugh Taylor (born 1951) was Chief Minister of the Turks and Caicos Islands from 31 January 1995 to 15 August 2003. He is leader of the People's Democratic Movement (PDM) party.

  17. Henry Moore Jackson

    Sir Henry Moore Jackson GCMG (1849 - 29 August 1908) was born in Grenada to the Anglican Bishop of the Leeward Islands. He received his education in England at Clifton College and the Royal Military Academy. After his education, Jackson went into the military, serving for the Royal Artillery from 1870 to 1885, reaching the rank of captain. In 1880 while still in the Royal Artillery he was also appointed commandant of the Sierra Leone police.

  18. Roger D. Pierce

    Mr. Pierce is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister Counselor. Mr. Pierce entered duty in the Foreign Service in 1978. He served abroad as consular officer in Mexico City, Mexico (1978-1979), Santiago, Chile (1979-1981), and as Chief of the Consular Section in Calcutta, India (1981-1984) and Istanbul, Turkey (1986-1990). He served as Principal Officer in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (1990-1994) and Consul General in Cairo, Egypt (1997-2001).

  19. Darian Forbes

    Darian Forbes (born May 3, 1984) is a sprinter from Turks and Caicos Islands who specializes in the 200 metres. He participated at the 2002 World Junior Championships, the 2003 World Championships and the 2006 Commonwealth Games, without ever progressing from the first round. His personal best time is 21.05 seconds, achieved in July 2006 in Santo Domingo.

  20. Duane Glinton

    Duane Glinton in Livermore, California, United States is a Turks & Caicos Islands football midfielder. Duane is the younger brother of Charleston Battery and Los Angeles Galaxy striker Gavin Glinton. Having graduated from Bradley University he now plays for Premier Development League outfit Ogden Outlaws. Also, he plays for the Turks and Caicos Islands national football team and featured in the two FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Haïti in 2004.

    Weniecka Ewing (sometimes spelled as Wenika Ewing) is a fashion model from the Caribbean Turks and Caicos Islands. A native of the town of Cockburn, Ewing's family members and friends noticed her looks and suggested a future in modeling. Ewing first won the 2004 Miss Cockburn contest, and finally, the Miss Turks & Caicos contest. Winning this contest guaranteed her right to compete in Miss Universe.

  22. Armando Gutierrez

    Armando Gutierrez (born November 17, 1949 Cuba) is a political figure in the United States and nationally respected Hispanic leader. Gutierrez was born in Cuba, but political pressures forced him into exile to the United States, where he spent several years in New Jersey and eventually settled in Miami, Florida. After several years in the banking industry, Gutierrez had built a strong name in the Cuban community, which led to his involvement in politics.

His decisions on Jamaican, Belizan and Bahamian Constitution Law created a new Commonwealth jurisprudence based on the Westminster Model with a strong reliance on the wording of the new Commonwealth Caribbean Constitutions. Judge Rowe's fearless support for the Caribbean Court of Justice swayed many of the Court's initial critics.
