    Ann Beattie (born September 8, 1947) is an American short story writer and novelist. She has received an award for excellence from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters and a PEN/Bernard Malamud Award for excellence in the short story form. Her work has been compared to Alice Adams, J.D. Salinger, John Cheever, and John Updike. She holds an undergraduate degree from American University and a masters degree from the University of Connecticut.

  4. Edward Kennedy Jr.

    Edward Moore Kennedy Jr. is the elder son of U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy and Virginia Joan Bennett. In 1973 cancer was discovered in his right leg. The leg was amputated. On the same day this surgery took place, Ted Sr. gave his niece Kathleen away at her wedding, rushing back to the hospital afterwards. In 1986, a movie called The Ted Kennedy Jr. Story was made for TV which concentrated on this event in Kennedy's life.

    Robert Remez is a leading American experimental psychologist, cognitive scientist and theoretician. He is best known for his work on perceptual organization, speech perception, and the use of the technique of sinewave synthesis in his experimental and theoretical work. He is the Ann Olin Whitney Professor of Psychology at Barnard College and a member of the Board of Directors of Haskins Laboratories. He is a graduate of Brandeis University and the University of Connecticut.

    Carol A. Fowler is an American experimental psychologist. She is the President and Director of Research at Haskins Laboratories in New Haven, Connecticut. She is also a Professor of Psychology at the University of Connecticut and an Adjunct Professor of Linguistics and Psychology at Yale University. She received her undergradute degree from Brown University in 1971 and her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Connecticut in 1977.

  11. Samuel Jaskilka

    Samuel Jaskilka (born 15 December 1919) is a retired four-star general whose last assignment was Assistant Commandant of the United States Marine Corps (1975-1978). General Jaskilka is a highly decorated veteran of the Korean War, having lead the landing at Inchon as a company commander with the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1978 after 34 years of service.

Banfield began his academic career at the University of Chicago, where he was a friend and colleague of Leo Strauss.
