Joey Woody (b. May 22, 1973 in Iowa City, Iowa) is an American track and field athlete in the 400 meter hurdles event. Woody attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he was the 1997 NCAA champion in the 400 m hurdles. Woody placed third in the American championships and qualified for the 1997 World Championships in Athens. In the 1999 World Championships in Seville, he improved to sixth place.

Roger William Jepsen is a former United States Senator from Iowa. He was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa on December 23 1928, where he attended the public schools and the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. He graduated from Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona in 1950 with a baccalaureate and in 1953 with a master's degree. He became a paratrooper in the United States Army 1946-1947 and served in the United States Army Reserve 1948-1960.

Norm Stewart was an American college basketball coach. He coached at the University of Northern Iowa (then known as State College of Iowa) from 1961 to 1967, but is best known for his career with the University of Missouri from 1967 until 1999. He retired with an overall coaching record of 731-375 in 38 seasons. The court at Mizzou Arena (and previously at the Hearnes Center) is named in his honor.
- Gil Gutknecht
Gilbert William "Gil or Gilly" Gutknecht, Jr. is an American politician. Gutknecht was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives first elected in 1994 to represent Minnesota's 1st congressional district, one of eight congressional districts in Minnesota. Gutknecht lost his 2006 reelection bid to DFL candidate Tim Walz, and his term ended in January 2007.

Earle Bruce (born March 8, 1931) is a former college football and arena football coach from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bruce played running back at The Ohio State University until 1951, when he suffered a torn meniscus, ending his football career. Ohio State football coach Woody Hayes asked Bruce to join the coaching staff, which he did until his graduation in 1953. He was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity while attending Ohio State University.

Bess Streeter Aldrich (b. 1881 - d. 1954) was an American author. Bess Streeter was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa. After graduating from Iowa State Normal School, she taught school at several locations in the west, later returning to Cedar Falls to earn an advanced degree in education. A writer since early childhood, she won a writing contest at age fourteen and another at seventeen. In 1906, she married Charles Aldrich.
