- Josh Gattis
Josh Gattis (born January 15, 1984 in Durham, North Carolina) is an American football player who plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL and formerly for the Wake Forest University Demon Decons. He plays Free Safety and Strong Safety.
- Bill George
William J. George (October 27, 1929 - September 30, 1982) was a product of the Pittsburgh area town of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. George was a professional football player, playing linebacker, for the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Rams. George attented college at Wake Forest University, being the Bears' second-round draft pick in 1951. He began his pro football career the following year as a middle guard in the then-standard five-man defensive front.
- Brian Piccolo
Louis Brian Piccolo (October 31, 1943 - June 16, 1970) was a professional football player for the Chicago Bears for four seasons. He died from embryonal cell carcinoma, which was found as a large tumor in his chest cavity. He was the subject of the 1971 TV movie "Brian's Song". Piccolo was portrayed in the original film by James Caan and by Sean Maher in the 2001 remake.

Richard Scott Proehl (born March 7, 1968 in Bronx, New York) is an American football wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. Proehl has played 16 seasons with the Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams, Carolina Panthers, and Indianapolis Colts. He has played in four Super Bowls and has won two: Super Bowl XXXIV with the Rams and Super Bowl XLI with the Colts.

Micah Andrews is an American Football running back for the Wake Forest Deamon Deacons. He was named on the 2004 ACC All-Freshman team as well as being named the ACC Rookie of the Week on September 20. After a productive sophomore season where he ran for 621 yards and a touchdown Andrews' was expected to have a break-out Junior season before a torn ACL in his left knee ended his season just three games in.

Riley Skinner (born October 21, 1986) is the current starting quarterback for the Wake Forest football team, coached by Jim Grobe. He played high school football for The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. Skinner stepped in for the injured Wake Forest QB Ben Mauk after Mauk injured his arm in the first game of the 2006 season against Syracuse.

Joseph John Zelenka (born March 9, 1976 in Cleveland, Ohio) is a tight end and long snapper for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League. He has previously played with the Washington Redskins and the San Francisco 49ers.
- Ed George
Edward Gary George (born August 10, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia) is a former offensive lineman for the Montreal Alouettes from 1970-1974 and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 1979-1980 of the Canadian Football League. He won two Grey Cups for the Alouettes and played in another for the Tiger-cats. George was selected in the fourth round of the 1970 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers after a stellar career at Wake Forest University, but opted to go to Canada.

Rich Baldinger (born December 31, 1959, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina) is a former professional football player. Baldinger, an offensive lineman, played twelve seasons in the NFL, mainly for the Kansas City Chiefs. His younger brother Gary Baldinger was his teammate with the Chiefs and also played at Wake Forest. His other brother Brian Baldinger also played in the NFL and currently is a broadcaster.

Steve Vallos (born December 28, 1983 in Youngstown, Ohio) is an American football offensive tackle for the Seattle Seahawks. He played college football for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Graduating with a major in communication he was a member of the ACC Honor Roll. He is the son of Bill and Susan. He also has two brothers, Jim and Zac.

He signed a 6-year, $18 million contract with a $5 million signing bonus on March 2, 2007 with the Falcons. The contract was the largest given to a fullback in NFL history.

Ryan Steven Plackemeier (born March 5, 1984) is an american football punter who was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the last round of the 2006 NFL Draft. A graduate of Fallbrook Union High School in San Diego, where he played both soccer and football. He played college football at Wake Forest University. Plackemeier is a large punter at 6'3", 253 pounds. He was signed by the Seattle Seahawks to a four-year, $1.652 million contract.

Harry Clinton Dowda (December 29, 1922 - June 24, 1996) was an American football defensive back in the NFL for the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles. He played college football for Wake Forest University.. He served three years in the Airborne and saw action in the Battle of Bulge and Crossing the Rhine. In 1953, he was married with two children and sold autos in the off-season.

Chris Barclay (born October 15, 1983 in Louisville, Kentucky) is an American football running back who currently plays for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League. Barclay was originally signed by the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest. However, Chris was waived by the team at the end of training camp. Barclay was then signed to the Browns' practice squad and subsequently to the team's active roster.

Karl Sweetan (born October 2, 1942 in Dallas, Texas) was a former American professional football player who played in five NFL seasons from 1966-1970 for 3 different teams. He is tied with several other players for the record longest pass completion (99 yards to Pat Studstill in 1966). He was the Lions starting quarterback during the filming of the movie "Paper Lion". Sweetan also gained notoriety of sorts later when he tried to sell an NFL playbook to another team.

His parents divorced when he was nine years old, leaving the role of dominant male figurehead to his grandfather. Barnes' sports career began at Landis High School were he was a three sport star (baseball, football and basketball) and led his 1953 football team to undefeated season.

James Thomas Clack was a guard in the National Football League. He played for 11 seasons between 1971 and 1981. He died of heart failure in 2006, after a four-year battle with cancer. Clack graduated from Wake Forest University. He began his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he was part of two Super Bowl championship teams in 1974 and 1975. After leaving Pittsburgh in 1977, Clack spent 4 more years with the New York Giants.

John "Red" O'Quinn (September 7, 1925 - April 21, 2002) was a star football receiver. Born in Bluett Falls, North Carolina, he played his university football with Wake Forest University's Demon Deacons between 1946 and 1949. He was a star receiver, with 1974 career yards, his best year being 1948, when he led the nation with 39 catches for 605 yards and 7 touchdowns. He was inducted into the Wake Forest University's Sports Hall of Fame in 1975.
