    Greg Jones is one of the most successful American collegiate wrestlers of all-time. At West Virginia University, Jones won three NCAA Division I wrestling titles - one of only 39 wrestlers to accomplish that feat in the tournament's 75-year history. Shortly after his 5-3 decision of Cornell's Tyler Baier in the 184 pound finals, Jones was named the 2005 tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.

  17. Rod Thorn

    Rodney King "Rod" Thorn (born May 23, 1941, in Princeton, West Virginia) is the president and general manager of the NBA's New Jersey Nets. A highly-regarded high school athlete in both basketball and baseball, Thorn attended West Virginia University, where he was an All-American guard in basketball, as well as playing three seasons on the WVU baseball team. In the 1963 NBA Draft, Thorn was the second player selected overall, drafted by the Baltimore Bullets.

  19. Gale Catlett

    Gale Catlett (born October 31, 1940 in Hedgesville, West Virginia) was a basketball player and longtime basketball coach for West Virginia University. Catlett played for West Virginia from 1959 to 1963. During his tenure playing there, he helped the Mountaineers to two NCAA tournament berths. After he graduated in 1963, he began his coaching career. He started out with assistant coaching jobs at Richmond, Davidson, Kansas, and Kentucky.

  28. Jarrod Smith

    Jarrod Brian Stockley Smith (born June 20, 1984) is a soccer player from New Zealand who currently plays for Toronto FC in the MLS. Smith attended West Virginia University and played for the Mountaineers in the 2005 and 2006 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship tournaments. He played as a striker and as a winger for WVU. In four seasons with the Mountaineers, Smith scored 32 goals in 74 matches. As a senior in 2006, he scored a career high 14 goals in only 16 matches.

    James Rodger "J. R." House (born November 11, 1979 in Charleston, West Virginia) played baseball in 2003 and 2004 as a catcher with the Pittsburgh Pirates. House was drafted in the 5th round. He later gave up baseball, focusing instead on his love of football. He enrolled at West Virginia University as a quarterback, but after a single season left choosing to return to minor league baseball. He signed as a free agent with the Baltimore Orioles in the 2006-07 offseason.

    Anthony "A.B." Brown (born in 1965) was an American football running back who played for the West Virginia Mountaineers in collegiate play and played for the New York Jets in the NFL. A.B., a transfer from Big East rival Pittsburgh, was one of the premiere backs for the Mountaineers during their 1988 run to the National Championship, where they lost to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
