Since 2004, he had been ranked number 1 in the world for two years. As of October 2006, Lin Dan had regained his ranking as #1 in the world, after a short period of being ranked behind Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia. Lin played in the 2004 Summer Olympics, where he lost to Ronald Susilo of Singapore in the early rounds.

    Jens Eriksen (born December 30, 1969) is a male badminton player from Denmark. He played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's doubles and mixed doubles. In men's doubles, Eriksen and his partern Martin Lundgaard Hansen had a bye in the first round and defeated Howard Bach and Kevin Qi Han of the United States in the second. In the quarterfinals, Eriksen and Hansen beat Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun of China 3-15, 15-11, 15-8.

In the quarterfinals, Zhang beat Wang Chen of Hong Kong 9-11, 11-6, 11-7 to advance to the semifinals. There, she defeated countrywoman Zhou Mi 11-6, 11-4.

    Mia Audina Tjiptawan (Chinese: 張海麗 (Zhang Haili); born August 22, 1979) is a former female badminton player born in Indonesia, and competing for the Netherlands since 2000. Mia Audina won a silver medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics for Indonesia. She competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia for the Netherlands but lost in the quarterfinals. Audina played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
