    Freddie H. Fu , M.D. Freddie H. Fu , M.D., is the David Silver Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Previously, he was the department's executive vice chairman.

    Shawn Kibe, PA-C Shawn Kibe is an orthopedic physician assistant at University Orthopedics Center (UOC). He graduated from Penn State University in 1992 and earned his physician assistant certificate from Cornell University Medical College in 1998. He became NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certified in 1998.

    William A. Grana , MD, MPH Professor and Head, Orthopaedic Surgery The University Physicians, The University of Arizona College of Medicine Dr. Grana received his medical degree from Harvard University in 1968. He completed his residency at Barnes Hospital, Washington University, St. Louis in 1975 and a fellowship in sports medicine from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1976. He was board certified in orthopaedic surgery in 1976.

  4. Wendy Hilliard

    Wendy Hilliard has long been a major force in women's sports. In 1978, she became the first African-American to represent the United States and remained on the rhythmic gymnastics national team a record-setting nine times; serving twice as national team captain. She was a four-time U.S. national team coach and coached 1996 Olympian, Aliane Baquerot. Hilliard was the first African-American and gymnast to become the president of the Women's Sports Foundation in 1995.

  5. Charles R. Drew

    Charles took a position at Morgan State College as a teacher of biology and a director of sports. He then went to McGill University Medical School in Canada. He became a medical intern. Charles got interested in researching human blood. Then he went to Columbia Medical School in New York. Charles died on April 1, 1950, in a car accident in North Carolina while driving three young doctors to a clinic in Alabama. The three young doctors survived, but Charles did not.

  6. Joe Gieck

    Dr. Joe Gieck is director of sports medicine, professor in human services, and professor of clinical orthopædic surgery at the University of Virginia. He was curriculum director of the University of Virginia's master's program in athletic training for 11 years and received the National Athletic Trainers Association distinguished educator of the year award in 1986 and college athletic trainer of the year award in 1979.

  7. Samuel Amoako-Atta

    Samuel Amoako-Atta Assistant Director of Intramurals and Recreation Activities Born in Kumasi, Ghana, Samuel Amoako-Atta received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana 1978, majoring in Physical Education. He held several teaching and coaching positions in Ghana, and Liberia, West Taught, coached and administered sports at Ghanaian Schools and later relocated to Liberia in 1980 coaching and teaching at the University of Liberia.

    SAM WILKINSON - PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER Mr. Wilkinson was appointed Public Relations Officer of the Barbados Olympic Association in 2001. He is an English trained journalist with the London School of Journalism, with a specialty in Sports Writing and Broadcasting. He is a former Assistant Editor of the Barbados Daily News and Director of Sports of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation.

    Cindy Kubiet enters her 27th year at UMBC. She was appointed as the director of sports medicine services in 1985. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and she completed her Master's degree at the University of Virginia.

  11. Felix Viera Ramos

    Felix Viera Ramos Team: 13 National Head Coach Felix has over 15 years of volleyball experience including coaching and playing in Puerto Rico and the USA. From 1992 through 1997, Felix played professionally in the Puerto Rican National League as an outside hitter. As a coach, Felix coached with Club AVOLI (PR), Levittown Volleyball Association (PR) and Dorado-Tainas Volleyball Association (PR) and attained various championships with girls' teams aged11-12 thru 17-19.

  12. Bruce Mesner

    Bruce Mesner , as director of Sports & Entertainment, brings a unique perspective to the planning needs of professional athletes and affluent individuals. He attended the University of Maryland, earning a degree in Economics. Bruce was a four-time letter winner in the football program and voted to the All Atlantic Coast first team three times. In 1985 Bruce won the Brooklyn Club Outstanding College Defensive Player Award. He was drafted by and played with the Buffalo Bills.

    Dr. Sue B. Shapiro , Associate Professor Dr. Shapiro has worked and taught in the field of athletics and athletic training for the past 25 years. She earned a BS in Physical Education from West Virginia University, an M.Ed. and an Ed.D. in Sports Medicine and Curriculum Design from the University of Virginia.

    Amanda graduated from the Bemidji State University with a Sports Management and Business degree. She began working in the field when she started with Minnesota Sports Federation as a customer of Visit Minneapolis North and was hired on as Sports Sales Manager for the organization in June 2003. After the retirement of the Director of Sports, Amanda was then promoted to that position in June 2005.

    Kenyon was described as one of the 25 "New Ivies" in The 2007 Kaplan/Newsweek 'How to Get Into College Guide.'     Kathrine Switzer Kathrine Switzer will always be best known as the woman who challenged the all-male tradition of the Boston Marathon and became the first woman to officially enter and run the event. Her entry created an uproar and worldwide notoriety when a race official tried to forcibly remove her from the competition.

  34. Kurt Svoboda

    Kurt Svoboda has been promoted to Director of Athletic Communications at Harvard. Svoboda, who is in his third year overall at Harvard, will serve as the departmental spokesperson responsible for disseminating information for the nation’s largest Division I intercollegiate athletic program to appropriate organizations. Svoboda will work directly with the football, men’s basketball and baseball programs as well as several others.

    Jason Tirotta joined the media relations team in April 2007 with several years of sports information experience, most recently as interim director of athletics communications at Kent State University. Before managing the day-to-day operations of the sports information office at Kent State, Jason worked at Hiram College as the director of sports information/marketing.

    Steve Nordwall is in his sixth year as the director of sports medicine for the Eastern Michigan University athletic department. Nordwall joined the EMU staff after spending the previous five years as an assistant trainer for the Kent State University athletic program. At Kent State, Nordwall worked with the intercollegiate sports programs and held direct responsibilities with the football and men�s basketball programs.

    Chris has devoted his career to impacting people's lives through sports. He began his career as a student of physical education and moved into coaching youth sports, as well as interscholastic basketball in the mid 1980's. He has a Bachelor of University Studies with an emphasis in Physical Education and Recreation, and a Masters of Science in Sports Administration from UNM.

While attending graduate school, he worked as the marketing sales executive at Roger Dean Stadium.

  39. Katy Peterson

    Katy Peterson is in her second season as the head coach of the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux volleyball program. Last season she led the Fighting Sioux to a 15-11 overall record and 6-6 North Central Conference mark (fourth place). Hired on March 20, 2006, Peterson became the ninth head coach in the program’s 30-year history (1976-2006).
