1. George Washington Gale Ferris Jr.

   George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. (February 14, 1859 - November 22, 1896) was born in Galesburg, Illinois. He is most well known for inventing the Ferris Wheel, constructed for the World's Columbian Exposition in an attempt to create something as impressive as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. His family moved to Nevada when he was five years old. His family later relocated to California, and Ferris attended high school in Oakland, California.

2. Charles I. D. Looff

   Charles I. D. Looff was a master builder of hand-carved carousels and amusement rides in America. Looff built the first carousel at Coney Island in 1876. During his lifetime, he manufactured some forty carousels, several roller coasters and Ferris wheels, and built California's famous Santa Monica Pier. He became famous for creating the unique Coney Island style of carousel carving.

3. Frederick Pabst

   Frederick Pabst (March 28, 1836-January 1, 1904) was an American brewer, born in Saxony, Germany. In 1848, he emigrated with his parents to Chicago. There he became, first a hotel waiter, then a cabin-boy on a Lake Michigan steamer. Eventually, he became a captain of one of these vessels. In this last capacity, he met a German, Phillip Best, the owner of a small but prosperous brewery founded in 1844 in Milwaukee, and married his daughter.

4. Mike Cooper

   Mike S. Cooper is a Canadian radio personality, with Erin Davis hosting the 98.1 CHFI morning show. Cooper was born in Hamilton, Ontario and was the lead morning host at CHFI's adult contemporary competitor CJEZ until 2005. He was an announcer at 1050 CHUM from 1974 to 1976. During this period, he set the world record for riding a Ferris Wheel during the Canadian National Exhibition. From 1976 to 1978 Cooper was a broadcaster at Montreal's CKGM.

5. Hubert Cecil Booth

   Hubert Cecil Booth was born in Gloucester, England on the 4th of July 1871 and died at Purley, Surrey, England on the 18th of January 1955. He was an English engineer who invented the first powered vacuum cleaner, designed Giant Wheels in Blackpool, Paris, and Vienna and designed suspension bridges.

6. Virginia Healey Asher

   Virginia Healey Asher was a gospel singer and evangelist to women. Virginia Healey was born in Chicago to Irish Catholic parents, who however, did not seem to mind their daughter attending services at Moody Church, then pastored by R. A. Torrey, an associate of evangelist Dwight L. Moody. Healey was converted to evangelical Christianity at the age of eleven and shortly thereafter became involved in the church’s Sunday School ministry.
