    Michael Chiarello (born January 26, 1962 in Red Bluff, California, USA) is an American celebrity chef specializing in Italian-influenced California cuisine. He hosts the cooking show, "Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello", on the Food Network and hosts "NapaStyle" on the Fine Living Network. Chiraello owns a winery, Chiarello Family Vineyards, and NapaStyle, a purveyor of food, cookware, and furniture.

  4. Mike Grgich

    Mike Grgich is a Croatian-American winemaker. He was born into a winemaking family in the town of Desne on Croatia's coastal Dalmatian region. He attended the University of Zagreb, where he studied viticulture and enology. However, he learned about California and wanted leave the then-Yugoslavia to become a winemaker there. In 1954, he fled communist Yugoslavia to West Germany, obtaining a fellowship to study there.

  5. Gustave Niebaum

    Gustave Niebaum - originally Nybom - (1842-1908) acquired his maritime schooling in Helsinki, Finland. By the end of 1850s - now a Sea Captain - Gustave Niebaum had become the world's leading fur trader. Among his many known accomplishments Captain Niebaum founded the Alaskan Commercial Company in San Francisco, California.

  6. Charles O'Rear

    Charles O'Rear is an American photographer best known for his photos of wine country and the image "Bliss" that was used as a standard wallpaper in Windows XP. O’Rear photographed for National Geographic Magazine for more than 25 years. He began his focus on winemaking in 1978 as an assignment to photograph the Napa Valley. Afterwards, he moved to Napa Valley and began photographing wine production around the world.

  7. Carole Meredith

    Carole Meredith is the University of California, Davis geneticist who pioneered the use of DNA typing to differentiate between "Vitis vinifera" grape varieties. She is responsible for proving that Zinfandel, Primitivo, and Crljenak Kaštelanski are identical, as well as Charbono and Corbeau. She has now retired from academia and grows world-class Syrah in the Mount Veeder appellation of Napa Valley with her husband, Stephen Lagier, under the Lagier-Meredith label.

    Dede Wilsey is a San Francisco socialite and philanthropist, the widow of prominent San Francisco businessman Al Wilsey. She was born Diane Dow Buchanan in 1944, to Mr. and Mrs. Wiley T. Buchanan, Jr.. Her father was, variously, the U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg and Austria, as well as the White House chief of protocol under Dwight Eisenhower. Her great-grandfather, Herbert Henry Dow, was the founder of Dow Chemical.

In 1991 Shaw and his wife divorced and sold his original Charles Shaw label to Fred Franzia's Bronco Wine Company.
