  1. Wietse Venema

    Wietse Venema is best known for the software TCP Wrapper , which is still widely used today and is included with almost all unix systems. Wietse is also the author of the Postfix mail system and the co-author of the very cool suite of utilities called The Coroner's Toolkit or "TCT". He is currently working at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center and he has gratiously agreed to allow us to catch up with him and and see what he's been up to lately.

  2. Clifford Stoll

    Clifford Stoll (or Cliff Stoll) is a U.S. astronomer, computer systems administrator, and author. He received his Ph.D. from University of Arizona in 1980. During the 1960s and '70s, Stoll was assistant chief engineer at WBFO,, a public radio station in Buffalo, New York. Stoll has written three books as well as technology articles in the non-specialist press (e.g., in "Scientific American" on the Curta mechanical calculator).

  9. Johan Helsingius

    Johan "Julf" Helsingius, born in Finland, started and ran the Anon.penet.fi internet remailer. Anon.penet.fi was one of the most popular Internet remailers, handling 10,000 messages a day. The server was the first of its kind to use a password-protected PO box system for sending and receiving e-mails. In the Eighties he was the system administrator for the central Finnish news node as well as one of the founding members of the Finnish UNIX User Group.
