- R. Balasubramanian
R. Balasubramanian is a leading Indian philosopher who was Director, Radhakrishnan Institute for Advanced Study in Philosophy, University of Madras, for a number of years. His field of specialization is Advaita, Phenomenology, and Existentialism. At present he is a professor at Sri Aurobindo School of Eastern and Western Thought, Pondicherry University and President, Afro-Asian Philosophy Association. He was Chairman of Indian Council of Philosophical Research.

Kamala Markandaya (1924 - May 16, 2004) was a pseudonym used by Kamala Purnaiya Taylor, an Indian novelist and journalist. Sudarshan (Sudi) Devanesen, CM (born 1943), is an Indian-Canadian family physician and educator, public health activist, and member of the Order of Canada. Devanesen studied at Bishop Cotton Boy's School in Bangalore, Madras Christian College of the University of Madras, and the Christian Medical College in Vellore, all in India. - Richard Henry Beddome
Colonel Richard Henry Beddome (11 May 1830 - 23 February 1911) was a British military officer in India and a naturalist. He joined the army in India in 1848 and was posted to the 42nd Madras Native Infantry In 1857 he was selected on account of his devotion to botany and natural history as an assistant to Dr Hugh Cleghorn. The first conservator of the newly formed forest department of the Madras presidency. He succeeded him in 1859 and remained Chief Conservator until 1882.

Robert J. Zydenbos is a Dutch-Canadian scholar who has doctorate degrees in Indian philosophy and Dravidian studies. He also has a doctorate of literature from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. Zydenbos also studied Indian religions and languages at the South Asia Institute and at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. He taught Sanskrit at the University of Heidelberg and later taught Jaina philosophy at the University of Madras in India.

Simon Theodor Aufrecht (January 7, 1822-April 3, 1907) was a German indologist. He was born in Leschnitz, Silesia, and was educated in Berlin, graduating in 1847. In 1852 he moved to Oxford and studied at the Bodleian Library. From 1862 until 1875 he was professor at Edinburgh University in Scotland, where he occupied the newly-established chair of Sanskrit. In 1875 he was appointed to the chair of indology at the University of Bonn, and remained at that post until 1889.
