Kenneth Lavon "Chucky" Atkins (born August 14 1974 in Orlando, Florida) is an American professional basketball player currently with the Denver Nuggets in the NBA. Atkins was undrafted following a college career at the University of South Florida, taking his game to Europe where he played for Cibona Zagreb in Croatia from 1997-1999. Joybubbles (born May 25, 1949 as Joe Engressia in Richmond, Virginia, USA) was an early phone phreak. Born blind, he became interested in telephones at age four. Being gifted with perfect pitch, he was able to whistle 2600 hertz into a telephone (see Blue box). A student at the University of South Florida in the late 1960s, he was given the nickname "Whistler" due to his ability to place free long-distance phonecalls with his whistle.

Keeley Dorsey (August 5, 1987 - January 17 2007) was a running back for the University of South Florida's football team. Beyond the promise of his playing record, he is most noted for the highly unusual circumstance of his death, stemming from a team conditioning workout, at age 19. Dorsey was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Tallahassee. As a freshman, he rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown on a 52-yard run during a blowout win over McNeese State.

John S. Allen was the first President of the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Allen came to the the the University of South Florida from the University of Florida, where he served as interim President from 1953 to 1955 following the unexpected death of President J. Hillis Miller, Sr. Dr. Allen was the President from the University's inception in 1957 to 1970, when he elected to retire. Dr. Allen played a pivotal role in the creation of the University.

Andrea Armstrong (born 18 May 1982) is an American who is a former NCAA basketball player. After a stellar high school basketball career, Armstrong began her collegiate sports career in 2001, with the Kansas State University basketball team. She played for Kansas State until the 2002 season. She was a 2002 Academic All-Big 12 selection. Armstrong transferred to the University of South Florida in 2003. 2003 was a red shirt season in accordance with NCAA regulations.
- Bill Gramatica
Bill Gramática was an NFL kicker for the Arizona Cardinals from 2001 to 2003. He played one game for the Miami Dolphins in 2004. In 2006, he returned to football as the kicker for the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League. In the NFL, he made 37 of his 48 field goal attempts and 60 of his 61 extra point attempts. Gramatica was cut by the Dolphins the week after his first career miss on an extra point kick, which came in a one-point loss.

He attended University of South Florida. He is a 6'10" 230 lb center. As a senior he averaged 13.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.9 steals, and 3.1 blocks per game.

DeAndrew Tarjo Rubin is an American football wide receiver and defensive back for the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League. Rubin attended the University of South Florida and was a starting receiver after being redshirted in 1999. After running a 4.42 in the 40 yard dash and showing off a 35½-inch vertical jump, Rubin was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft. Rubin never has played in a regular season NFL game.
