  1. Mel Gibson

    Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson (born January 3 1956) is an American-born actor, director, and producer raised primarily in Australia. After establishing himself as a household name with the "Mad Max" and "Lethal Weapon" series, Gibson went on to direct and star in the Academy Award-winning "Braveheart". Gibson's direction of "Braveheart" made him the sixth actor-turned-filmmaker to receive an Oscar for Best Director.

  2. William Wallace

    Sir William Wallace (c. 1270-August 23, 1305) was a knight and Scottish patriot, who led a resistance against the English occupation of Scotland during the Wars of Scottish Independence. He is considered the greatest hero in Scotland's history. Wallace was the inspiration for the poem "The Acts and Deeds of Sir William Wallace, Knight of Elderslie" by the 15th century minstrel Blind Harry. The 1995 film "Braveheart" is based on the poem.

    Angus Macfadyen (born September 21, 1963) is a Scottish actor. Macfadyen was born in Glasgow and was raised partly in Africa, France, the Philippines and Singapore. His father was a doctor in the World Health Organization. Macfayden attended the University of Edinburgh, and the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. He is best known for having played Robert the Bruce in the 1995 film "Braveheart" and Jeff Reinhart in "Saw III".

    Blind Harry (ca. 1440 - 1492), also known as Harry or Henry the Minstrel, is renowned as the earliest surviving lengthy source for the events of the life of William Wallace, the Scottish freedom-fighter. He wrote "The Actes and Deidis of the Illustre and Vallyeant Campioun Schir William Wallace" around 1477, 170 years after the death of Wallace in 1305.

In the movie Braveheart, her name was changed to Murron MacClannough so American audiences would not confuse her with Maid Marian.
