    General James Watson Webb (February 8 1802 - June 7 1884) was a newspaper publisher and a New York politician in the Whig and Republican parties. His sons H. Walter Webb and William Seward Webb were noteworthy railway executives. Webb was born in Claverack, New York to Catherine (Hogeboom) and Gen. Samuel Blatchley Webb, a Revolutionary officer of distinction. At age 12 he moved to Cooperstown, New York to live with his brother-in-law and guardian, Judge George Morrill.

    Webb C. Ball (October 6, 1847-1922) was a jeweller and watchmaker born in Fredericktown, Ohio. After a two-year apprenticeship to a jeweller, Ball settled in Cleveland, Ohio to join a jewelry store. When Standard Time was adopted in 1883, he was the first jeweller to use time signals from the United States Naval Observatory, bringing accurate time to Cleveland.     Dennis Blair (born 1946) is the immediate past President of the Institute for Defense Analyses, a U.S. Government think-tank in the Washington D.C. area focused on national security. Blair was born in Kittery, Maine in 1946, and was a 6th generation naval officer. He attended St. Andrew's School (1964) and, as a classmate of Oliver North and James H. Webb, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1968.
