Josef Ludvík František Ressel (in Czech) or Joseph Ludwig Franz Ressel or Josip Ressel (in Slovenian and Croatian) (June 29, 1793- October 9, 1857) was a Bohemian forest warden and the inventor of the ship's propeller. Ressel was born in Chrudim, Bohemia, and worked as a forest engineer in Motovun, Istria (modern-day Croatia).

Petr Průcha is a professional ice hockey forward for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League. Prucha was scouted by the Rangers at the same time as Henrik Lundqvist, and has paid big dividends for the Rangers. He was drafted in the 8th round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, 240th overall. He played 47 games in the 2004-05 season for HC Moeller Pardubice in the Czech Republic League, scoring seven goals with 17 points.

Bohumil Laušman (born Aug. 30, 1903 in Žumberk (near Chrudim), murdered May 9, 1963 in Prague) was a Czech Social Democratic politician. During the World War II he was in exile in Great Britain, where he was a member of Czech government in exile. He returned after the war and was Minister of Industry from 1945 until he was elected chairman of the Social Democratic party in 1947. In 1949 he went to exile again - via Yugoslavia to Austria.

Henryk Jasiczek (2 March, 1919 in Kottingbrunn near Vienna, Austria - 8 December, 1976 in Český Těšín, Czechoslovakia) was a Polish journalist, poet, writer and activist from Zaolzie. He is considered the most important Polish writer from Zaolzie after World War II and one of the most popular local Polish poets. Jasiczek was born in Kottingbrunn near Vienna in Austria. He spent his childhood in Oldrzychowice near Trzyniec.
