- Perdita Felicien
Perdita Felicien (born August 29, 1980 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada) was a world-class hurdler in track and field athletic competition, most famous for her disappointing failure to jump over a single hurdle in the 2004 Athens Olympic games. Felicien carries her mother's maiden name, whose origins are in the tiny Caribbean island nation of Saint Lucia. Her mother named her "Perdita" after a contestant on the television game show, "The Price is Right".

- Nicola Sanders
Nicola Sanders (born June 23, 1982) is a British sprinter and hurdler. Together with Lee McConnell, Donna Fraser and Christine Ohuruogu she won a bronze medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics. Nicola won a bronze medal in the European Junior Championships in Riga in 1999. She originally focused on the 400m Hurdles, however when she had a great season on the flat in 2005, she began to run more often on the 400m event.

Charles Allen (born March 3, 1977 in Georgetown, Guyana) is a Canadian-Guyanese athlete specializing in hurdling, but also a sprinter. Born in Georgetown, Guyana Allen emigrated to Canada, first to Brampton where he attended Turner Fenton Secondary School, and then to Malton where he went to Ascension of Our Lord Secondary School. He competed for Guyana in the 2000 Summer Olympics, and still holds the Guyanese record in the 110 meter hurdles.

- Ladji Doucouré
Ladji Doucouré is a French athlete of Malian and Senegalese descent. He was a football player and decathlete before specializing in hurdling. He competed in the Athletics at the 2004 Summer Olympics - Men's 110 metres Hurdles at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and finished 8th in the final with a result of 13.76 (he fell just before the finish line). Doucouré won the gold medal at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics, beating Liu Xiang and veteran Allen Johnson.

Maurice Wignall (born April 17, 1976) is a Jamaican hurdling athlete. His first appearance in a major international championship was at the 1997 World Championships, where he competed in the long jump competition without reaching the final. He jumped 8.09, which still stands as his personal best. Wignall's success in hurdling came relatively late. He took his first medal, a bronze medal, at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

Andrew Howe Besozzi is an Italian athlete who specializes in the long jump. He won this event as well as the 200 metres at the 2004 World Junior Championships. Born to Renée Fedler, U.S. hurdler, and Andrew Howe Sr., a footballer of German descent, he moved in Rieti, Italy, in 1990 together with his mother, after she married to an Italian man, Ugo Besozzi. Francina Elsje (Fanny) Blankers-Koen (Lage Vuursche, 26 April 1918-Hoofddorp, 25 January 2004) was a Dutch athlete, best known for winning four gold medals at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. She accomplished this as a mother of two, during a time when many disregarded women's athletics. Her background and performances earned her the nickname "the Flying Housewife." Having started competing in athletics in 1935, she took part in the 1936 Summer Olympics a year later.
