Jan Baalsrud (born 1917 - died 1988) was a commando in the Norwegian resistance trained by the British. He was born in Oslo and lived in Kolbotn from the 1930ies to the 1950ies. He arrived in Britain in 1941 where he joined the Norwegian Company Linge. In 1943, he and numerous other commandos embarked on a dangerous mission to destroy a German air control tower and recruit for the resistance movement. Pål Pot Pamparius (born 18 June 1969) is the stage name of Pål Bøttger Kjærnes a member of Norwegian band Turbonegro. He plays guitar and keyboards and dresses as a leather soldier. He is presumably named after Cambodian Khmer Rouge leader Pol Pot and the pizza-restaurant Pamparius in Kolbotn, which he started and used to own/work at. Kolbotn also being the birthplace of the Norwegian band Darkthrone

Frode Kippe is a Norwegian international footballer. He usually plays as a central defender, and currently plays for Lillestrøm S.K. in the Norwegian Premier League. Solveig Gulbrandsen (born january 12, 1981) is a Norwegian soccer player. She is a midfielder on her club side Kolbotn I.L.. In 1998 she made her debut for the Norwegian National Team and has since made regular appearances. She won the golden medal with the Norwegian national team in the 2000 Summer Olympics. On June 8 2006 Gulbrandsen gave birth to her first child, a son named Theodor.

Isabell Herlovsen is a Norwegian soccer player. She is a forwarder on her club side Kolbotn I.L.. She had her first appearance for the Norwegian National Team at the age of 16. She lives in Fredrikstad, Norway. Her father is Kai Erik Herlovsen, who was a famous soccer player himself. Isabell has an older sister and a younger brother.
- Vidar Bauer
Vidar Bauer (born September 19, 1954 in Grue, Norway) is a handball player and coach. For most of his active career, he played for Kolbotn I.L. He was the third of five siblings and for several years, his older brother, Runar Bauer, and his younger brother, Hans Edvard Bauer, played on the same team. Between 1978 to 1985, he played 153 international games for the Norwegian National team. Vidar Bauer won the Norwegian National league with Kolbotn in 1983 and 1984.

Runar Bauer (born October 16, 1952) is a Norwegian handball player. He played for Kolbotn I.L. for several years, including the 1982/1983 season and the 1983/1984 season when Kolbotn won the National league. At Kolbotn, he was joined by his two younger brothers Vidar Bauer and Hans Edvard Bauer. Bauer had several appearances for the Norwegian National Team. Towards the end of his career Bauer also played for Sarpsborg, at the time further down in the Norwegian league system.

Jon Rønningen is a former Norwegian wrestler and a member of Kolbotn I.L. (one of the largest sports clubs in Norway). He won a total of 9 medals in international championships and was the third Norwegian to win two individual Summer Olympic gold medals (1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea and 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain). Jon’s brother, Lars Rønningen, is also a highly accomplished wrestler.
