Vidyaj Yothi Professor V. K. Samaranayake B.Sc (Ceyl), D.I.C., Ph.D.(Lond), D.Sc.(Colombo), MBCS, MCS(SL), FNASSL, MIEEE (1939 - June 6, 2007) pioneered computing & IT development industry and usage in Sri Lanka and thus considered as the "Father of Information Technology" in Sri Lanka. He was a Professor of Computer Science and former Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo.

Mrs. Lohman lives in Carmel, has a masters degree in school administration and CA teaching credentials for both standard classroom settings and special education teaching. She has worked most recently as the resource specialist at San Carlos School in Monterey.

Maria Case First Grade Class Teacher Maria Case graduated from Lawrence University with a B.A., majoring in theater and Dramatic Arts with a minor in French. Ms. Case worked as a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines for five years, an occupation that allowed her to experience many different cultures. After visiting Emerson College in England, she was inspired by the Waldorf Education course and returned three years later as a student.

Lili Blalock , Handwork Specialty Teacher Lili Blalock received her B.F.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in Music. Ms. Blalock has performed with several vocalists and chamber groups, most recently accompanying dance performances at Monterey Peninsula College. She taught piano lessons privately for 15 years. Ms. Blalock's handwork experience began as a child with sewing and knitting and progressed to include spinning and weaving.

Carol Jefferies , Sixth Grade Class Teacher Carol Jefferies earned her B.A. from the University of Oregon, her Waldorf Teaching Certificate from Parsifal College in Sydney, Australia, and her California State Teaching Credential from California State University Monterey Bay. Ms. Jefferies worked for twelve years in Asia as an ESL instructor for children and as a trainer of teachers. She is in her sixth year with the MBCS program.

As a result, she has an Illinois Teaching Certificate, which has reciprocity with California. (Her California Teaching Credential is in process). She then earned her Waldorf Teaching Certificate from the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training. Ms. Davis has taught first, second and third grades in the MBCS program.

Ted Maehr , Seventh Grade Class Teacher Ted Maehr graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Geologic and Environmental Science and an M.A. in Education. In addition, Mr. Maehr has work experience as an outdoor educator, storyteller, farm manager, fisherman, carpenter, builder, and entrepreneur. He owned a marine business specializing in boat renovation and diving services. Mr Maehr has taught at MBCS for six years

Lisa Silverman , Second Grade Class Teacher Lisa Silverman earned a Bachelor of Science in Art degree, and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education from Antioch New England Graduate School, New Hampshire. She also holds New Hampshire and California Teaching Credentials. Her teaching experience includes teaching grade one last year at the MBCS program, substitute teaching, and home-school teaching in New York. Ms. Silverman also is a graphic design artist.

She earned her B.A. from Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo, Japan, and worked as a U.S.-Japanese yen currency dealer at a leading bank in Tokyo. She then earned her A.A. from Japan Calligraphy Professional School in Tokyo. After coming to the United States, she taught Japanese calligraphy to high school students in Colorado and California.

Sue Sandilands , Handwork Specialty Teacher Sue Sandilands is a Registered Nurse. She has been a handwork teacher at MBCS since its inception, for the eight years her daughter has been a MBCS student. She has taught knitting, crocheting, sewing, cross-stitch, and other crafts, and actively volunteers in gardening and fundraising. In addition, Ms Sandilands is pursuing a Master's Degree in Holistic Health at SFSU.
