- Simha Flapan
Simha Flapan (1911-1987) was an Israeli historian and politician, probably best known for his book "The Birth of Israel: Myths And Realities", published in the year of his death. The book has been considered crucial in the demythologizing of the story of the founding of the modern state of Israel. In this respect, he is generally considered one of the New Historians, although he was a generation older than most of the people identified with that label.
- Moshe Sneh
Moshe Sneh (born January 6 1909 in {Radzyn, Poland; died March 1 1972) was an Israeli politician and military figure and one of the founders of Mapam, a left-wing group. Sneh later joined the Israeli Communist Party (Maki), being one of the leaders of a more pro-Israeli split in 1965 (as opposed to the anti-Zionism of pro-Palestine militants among the party members). He was a member of the Knesset from 1949 to 1965 and from 1969 to 1972.
- Haim Oron
Haim "Jums" Oron (born 26 March 1940) is an Israeli politician and former Minister of Agriculture. He is currently a Member of the Knesset for Meretz-Yachad. Oron was born in Giv'atayim, and went on to serve in the parachuted Nahal. He joined Kibbutz Lahav (where he has worked as a factory manager and a teacher) and remains a member of it to this day. In 1968, he became secretary of Hashomer Hatzair and then, the National Kibbutz movement.
- Yisrael Galili
Yisrael Galili (10 February 1911-8 February 1986) was an Israeli politician and member of Knesset. Before Israel's independence in 1948, he had served as Chief of Staff of the Haganah. Galili was born in the town of Brailov in Poland (now Ukraine). His family immigrated to Palestine when he was three years old, and settled in Tel Aviv. Galili attended school there and apprenticed with a printer. Galili began his military career in 1927, when he enlisted in the Haganah.
- Efraim Sneh
Efraim Sneh (born 19 September 1944) is an Israeli politician and physician. He is a member of the Knesset for the Labor Party and is the current Deputy Defense Minister. Born in Tel Aviv in 1944, Sneh is the son of Moshe Sneh, who was one of the heads of the Haganah. His father was elected to the first Knesset as a representative of Mapam, before defecting to Maki, the Israeli Communist Party. Sneh served in the Nahal infantry battalion from 1962 to 1964.
- Avshalom Vilan
Avshalom "Abu" Vilan (born 11 February 1951) is an Israeli politician and economist. He currently represents the Meretz-Yachad party in the Knesset.
- Yosef Almogi
Yosef Aharon Almogi (born 5 May 1910, died 2 November 1991) was an Israeli politician. Born Josef Karlenboim in Hrubieszow, Poland on May 5, 1910, he joined the Dror movement in 1924 and moved to Israel in 1930. He served as a commander of the Hagana in Kfar Saba, Tel Aviv (1936) and Haifa (1937). In 1940 he enlisted in the British Army, and fought in Greece. He was captured and spent the remainder of the War in a German POW camp.
- Yedidya Yaari
Major General Yedidya Ya'ari (born 1947) was the commander of the Israeli Navy. He was succeeded by David Ben Ba'ashat. In July 1969, as a commando in Shayetet 13, he was badly wounded and mistakenly declared dead during Operation Bulmus 6 - the assault on fortified Green Island, Egypt, in the Gulf of Suez (jointly with Sayeret Matkal). After retirning from active army service, Ya'ari worked as an assistant cameraman for three years at Herzliya Studios.
- Zeev Zrizi
Zeev Zrizi was the second mayor of the Israeli city of Beersheba. Zrizi replaced David Tuviyahu (the city's first mayor) in 1961 after political changes within the city. He had been a member of the city council since 1949 on behalf of Mapam. However, he only remained in the job for two years, and was replaced by Eliyahu Navi.
- Daniel Auster
Daniel Auster (1893-1962) - lawyer and mayor of Jerusalem, 1948-51. He had been active in Jerusalem municipal affairs since 1934, under the British Mandatory administration, and represented the Jewish case against the internationalization of Jerusalem before the United Nations in 1947. Mordekhai Bentov (1900-1985) - Hashomer Hatzair leader, Mapam leader, and a member of the political committee representing the yishuv in the United Nations (1947-48).
- Zvi Lurie
Zvi Lurie (1906-1968) - Mapam labor leader. He was secretary of the world leadership of Hashomer Hatzair (1935-37), member of the Va'ad Leumi (1941-48) and member of the Va'ad Leumi Executive as Information Department Director. After the establishment of the state, he filled various Jewish Agency positions.
- Nahum Nir-Rafalkes
Nahum Nir-Rafalkes (1884-1968) - lawyer, labor leader and second speaker of the Knesset. He led Poalei Zion Left and represented it in the Histadrut and the Va'ad Leumi, and became a member of Mapam when the groups merged. He was deputy chairman of the Provisional Council of State, member of Knesset (1949-1965), deputy speaker and speaker (1959) of the Knesset.
- Moshe David Remez
Moshe David Remez (1886-1951) - labor leader. He was a leader in Ahdut Ha'avoda and Mapai, headed the Public Works Office of the Histadrut (1921-27) and serving as its secretary-general (1935-45), chairman of the Va'ad Leumi (1944-48), Minister of Transport in the Provisional Government, member of Knesset (1949-51) and Minister of Education (1950-51). Berl Repetur (1902-1989) - labor leader and member of Knesset (1949-51).
