- Jacques Rogge
Count Jacques Rogge (born May 2, 1942 in Ghent, Belgium) is by profession an orthopedic surgeon. He is the eighth president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Born in Ghent, Dr. Count Rogge competed in yachting in the 1968, 1972 and 1976 Summer Olympics, and played on the Belgian national rugby union team. Rogge served as president of the Belgian Olympic Committee from 1989 to 1992, and as president of the European Olympic Committees from 1989 to 2001.

- Adam Gruca
Adam Gruca (1893-1983) was a famous Polish orthopaedist, inventor, and surgeon. He is considered to be the founder of modern orthopedic in Poland. Adam Gruca also invented various orthopaedic instruments and appliances. The Adam Gruca Award is named in his honor.

Alec Christopher Kessler (born January 13 1967 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is a retired American professional basketball player in the NBA. Kessler played collegiately for the University of Georgia where he was a three-time academic all american first-team selection as well as the national academic all-American of the year in 1989 and 1990.

Johann Georg Heine (April 3, 1771 Lauterbach (Black Forest, Germany); - September 7, 1838 Scheveningen) was a German orthopedic mechanic and physician. He is considered the father of Orthopedics in Germany.
- Barney Brooks
Barney Brooks (b. December 17, 1884; d. March 30, 1952), a 20th century U.S. physician and surgeon, was an influential medical educator, particularly in surgical residency training, and was known for his research in orthopedics, intestinal obstruction, and vascular surgery. He was appointed first Professor and Chief of Surgery at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1925 where he served until his death in 1952 from a hemorrhagic stroke.
- Louis Stromeyer
Louis Georg Friedrich Stromeyer (1804-1876) was a German surgeon who was born in Hanover. After receiving his doctorate from Berlin in 1823, he spent his career in several European cities, but is largely known for his work done in Hanover. He was also a military surgeon during the First War of Schleswig (1848-1851). Stromeyer was a pioneer in orthopedics and orthopedic surgery.
- Hamilton E. Holmes
Dr. Hamilton E. Holmes was a physician (orthopedist) who helped desegregate the University of Georgia as one of the first two African-American students (along with Charlayne Hunter-Gault) in 1961, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He was also the first African-American student to attend the Emory University School of Medicine, receiving his M.D. in 1967, later becoming a professor of orthopedics and associate dean.
- Henry Gassett Davis
Henry Gassett Davis (b. November 4 1807, Trenton, Maine - d. November 18 1896, Everett, Massachusetts) was an orthopedic surgeon. He founded the traction school of orthopedic surgery and created the first splint for traction and protection of the hip joint. Henry was a later descendent of Dolor Davis of early Cape Cod, Massachusetts. As a boy he intended to be a mechanic and a manufacturer of cotton bagging, similar to his father.
- Jacques Mathieu Delpech
Jacques Mathieu Delpech (1777 - October 28, 1832was a French surgeon born in Toulouse. He earned his doctorate from the University of Paris in 1801 and spent the next several years as a teacher of anatomy in Toulouse. In 1812 be became a surgeon at Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Eloi in Montpellier, where he remained until his death in 1832. Delpech is best known for his work in orthopedics, and he established a clinic for orthopaedic diseases at Saint-Eloi.
- Edville Gerhardt Abbott
Edville Gerhardt Abbott was an American orthopædic surgeon born in Hancock, Me., and educated at Bowdoin College. He was well-known through his mechanical so-called "Abbott's method" of treatment of lateral curvature of the spine. In 1913 he demonstrated his method in England and on the Continent. He was professor of orthopædics at Bowdoin College and was connected with the Maine General Hospital, the Children's Hospital, etc.
