    real name, is a columnist and editor born on January 1, 1960 in Mie Prefecture, Japan. He is credited as popularizing the term "otaku" in its modern colloquial usage. After dropping out of Meiji University's Nakano Junior and Senior High Schools, he graduated from Wako University. Along with Yūichi Endō, he launched the "Tokyo Otona Club" in 1982. His is most well known for his study of serial killer Tsutomu Miyazaki,, published in 1989.

    is the stage name of, a Japanese pop-music performer who also is notable as an actress and song writer. Born as Chisato Moritaka in Osaka, Japan she was raised in Kumamoto, Kyūshū, Japan. Her big break into show business was as the winner of the "Pocari Sweat Image Girl Contest" in 1986. Her singing career as the unrivaled "Dance Queen" began in May 1987 with the release of her first album, New Season.

    is a Japanese mangaka, his most notable work being "Excel Saga". Rikdo graduated from Kyushu Sangyo University and lives in Dazaifu, Fukuoka. He displays some of the signs associated with otaku, insofar as he collects kitsch, likes playing computer games, and drawing breasts.

She is the daughter of Katsuhiko Nakagawa, a famous celebrity in Japan in the 1980s. Her blood type is A. She is represented by the Watanabe Entertainment talent agency. Her nickname is Shokotan. (In the blog by Mika Kaneda, who appeared with her on "Ōsama no Brunch", she is called Shokotasu). She is left-handed.

    (1981 -), also known under his kunreishiki pen name Nisio Isin (a palindrome), is a Japanese novelist. He attended and left Ritsumeikan University without graduating. In 2002, he debuted with the novel, which earned him the 23rd Mephisto Award at only twenty years of age.. He currently works with Kodansha on "Faust", a literary magazine containing the works of other young authors who similarly take influence from light novels and otaku culture.
