  1. Robert Kostelka

    Robert William "Bob" Kostelka (born February 18, 1933) is a former district attorney, district judge, and circuit judge, and, currently, a conservative Republican state senator from Monroe, Louisiana, who has represented Ouachita, Lincoln, and Jackson parishes in Senate District 35 since 2004. Kostelka retired from his circuit judgeship in 2003, when he reached the age of seventy, as required by an amendment to the Louisiana Constitution.

  2. Scott Leehy

    Bernard Scott Leehy (born 1962) became the newest judge on the Louisiana Fourth Judicial District Court bench in Ouachita and Morehouse parishes on January 1, 2007. He was officially sworn in as district judge on December 27, 2006. Leehy had been the Monroe City Court judge since 1997. A Republican, he defeated the Democrat Jay Mitchell in the September 30, 2006, jungle primary for the seat being vacated by the retiring Judge Jimmy Dimos.

  3. James A. Noe

    James Albert Noe, Sr. (December 21, 1890 - October 18, 1976) of Monroe served for nearly five months as a Democratic Governor of Louisiana after the death of Oscar K. Allen on January 28, 1936. Noe was born in tiny Evans Landing in Harrison County, Indiana, to John M. Noe and the former Belle McRae. He also lived in the area of West Point, Kentucky, as a child. His education was limited to county schools.

  4. Randy Ewing

    Randy Lew Ewing (born February 10, 1944) is a Jackson Parish businessman who, as a Democrat, represented District 35 (Jackson, Lincoln, Union, and part of Ouachita parishes) in the Louisiana State Senate from 1988-2000. He was the State Senate President in his last term from 1996-2000, which corresponded with the first term of Republican Governor Murphy J. "Mike" Foster, Jr. Ewing recalls his humble roots.

  7. Gilbert Morris

    Gilbert Morris, (1929-) is a Christy Award winning, prolific Christian author. Gilbert was born May 24 in Forrest City, Arkansas, the son of Osceola M Morris and Jewell Irene Gilbert. He was a pastor for 10 years before becoming Professor of English at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas. He has a Ph.D at the University of Arkansas. During the summers of 1984 and 1985, he did postgraduate work at the University of London.

  8. Jim McDougal

    James B. (Jim) McDougal, a native of White County, Arkansas, and his wife, Susan McDougal (the former Susan Carol Hendley), were financial partners with Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton in the real estate venture that led to the Whitewater political scandal of the 1990s. Starting in 1982, McDougal operated Madison Guaranty Savings and Loan. On April 14, 1997, McDougal was convicted of eighteen felony counts of fraud and conspiracy charges.

  9. Morley Jennings

    Morley Jennings (January 23, 1890 - May 13, 1985) was a college football coach at Ouachita Baptist, and Baylor University. From 1912 to 1925, he coached at Ouachita Baptist, and compiled a 72-17-12 record. From 1926 to 1940, he coached at Baylor, and compiled an 83-60-6 record. He played baseball, basketball, football, and track at Mississippi State.

  10. W. Francis McBeth

    William Francis McBeth was born March 9 1933 in Ropesville, Texas (near Lubbock). McBeth attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. He is a prolific composer, whose musical repertoire has become a universal standard in wind band literature. He is also one of the most respected conductors of the present. McBeth received the ASCAP Special Award every year since 1965.

  11. William Miller

    William Miller, born January 3, 1957, in Rison, Arkansas, was a star running back in the Canadian Football League. Miller played his college football at Ouachita Baptist University from 1975 to 1978, where he rushed for 3813 career yards and was inducted into their Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003. He joined the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1980, rushing for 1053 yards. He was named an all star and won the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie Award.

  12. Red Parker

    Jimmy "Red" Parker was a college football coach. From 1961 to 1965, he served as the head football coach at Arkansas A&M, where he compiled a 29-19-2 record. From 1966 to 1972, he coached at Citadel College in South Carolina. He compiled a 46-37 record there. In 1966, he coached an NCAA record 20 games that season, going 11-9. From 1973 to 1976, he coached at Clemson, where he compiled a 17-25-2 record.

  13. Boyd Anderson Tackett

    Boyd Anderson Tackett (May 9, 1911 - February 23, 1985) was an US Congress Representative from Arkansas. He was born near Black Springs, Arkansas, May 9, 1911; moved with his parents to Glenwood, Arkansas, and attended the public schools; student at Arkansas Polytechnic College at Russellville 1930-1932, Ouachita College, Arkadelphia, Ark., in 1932 and 1933, and graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville in 1935.

  14. Winston Bryant

    Winston Bryant (born October 3, 1938) served as the Democratic secretary of state (1977-1978), lieutenant governor (1981-1989) and attorney general (1991-1999) of the U.S. state of Arkansas. He was born in Malvern, the seat of Hot Spring County. He is married to the former Susan Hughes and has one son, John Bryant. In 1960, Bryant graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia.

  15. Leon A. Green

    Leon Green, noted legal realist, was a long-tenured dean of Northwestern University School of Law (1929 – 1947) and professor at Yale Law School (1926 – 1929) and the University of Texas School of Law (1915 – 1918, 1920 – 1926, and 1947 – 1977). Green earned an A.B. from Ouachita College in 1908 and LL.B from the University of Texas in 1915.

  16. Jim Holt

    Jim L. Holt (born January 17, 1965) is a conservative Republican politician from Springdale, the fourth largest city in Arkansas, located in Washington and Benton counties in the GOP stronghold in the northwestern portion of the state. He was born in Camden in Ouachita County in heavily Democratic south Arkansas. He attended the University of Maryland in College Park but dropped out to return to Arkansas to care for his ailing grandmother.

  17. Benjamin Travis Laney

    Benjamin Travis Laney, Jr. (25 November 1896 - 21 January 1977), was a Democratic Governor of Arkansas. Laney was born in Camden, where he attended Ouachita County public schools but never graduated from high school. He was, however, admitted in 1915 to Hendrix College, a liberal arts institution in Conway. His studies were interrupted by World War I. Laney entered the United States Navy in 1918 and served until the end of the war.
