William King, 1st Earl of Lovelace, FRS (1805-1893) was an English nobleman and scientist. He was created Earl of Lovelace and Viscount Ockham in 1838, and appointed Lord Lieutenant of Surrey in 1840. He was the husband of Augusta Ada (Byron) King, Countess of Lovelace, the only legitimate daughter of poet Lord Byron, who is said to have been the first computer programmer.
