Derek Worlock was a student at St Edmund's College from 1934 to 1944. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1944 in Westminster Cathedral, and not long afterwards was appointed private secretary to Cardinal Griffin. He assisted successive Cardinals for some 19 years.

    John Charles Bigham, 1st Viscount Mersey (3 August 1840 - 3 September 1929) was a British jurist and politician. He is notable for heading the official Board of Trade inquiries into the sinking of steamships, most notably the RMS "Titanic", the RMS "Lusitania", and the Empress of Ireland. Bigham was born in Liverpool, the son of a merchant. He studed law at London University, then travelled to Berlin and Paris to continue his education.

    Allan Ivo Steel (1892-1917) was an English cricketer. Allan Steel was born in Toxteth Park, Liverpool, the son of the Lancashire cricketer A.G.Steel. As a right-handed batsman and a right-arm slow bowler, he represented MCC and also Middlesex in two first-class matches in 1912. He was killed on active service during World War I, aged 25.

    Tommy (Thomas Reginald) Handley (17 January 1892 - 9 January 1949) was an English comedian mainly known for the BBC radio program "ITMA" ("It's That Man Again"). He was born at Toxteth Park, Liverpool on 17 January 1892 and died on 9 January 1949 from a brain hemorrhage. He served in the British Army during World War I and went on to work in variety, and in the infancy of radio became known as a regular broadcaster.

    William Rathbone IV (10 June 1757-11 February 1809) was a member of the noted Rathbone family of Liverpool, England. He was the son of William Rathbone III and Rachel Rutter, and was a Liverpool ship-owner and merchant, involved in the organisation of American trade with Liverpool. Originally a member of the Society of Friends, he felt compelled to write a Narrative of Events in Ireland among the Quakers in 1786 in protest against religious intolerance in the Society.
