    Harry T. Edwards (born 1940) is a federal appellate judge in the United States. Judge Edwards graduated from Cornell University in 1962, where he was a member of the Quill and Dagger society. He graduated from University of Michigan Law School in 1965. He practiced law in Chicago for the firm of Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather & Geraldson from 1965 to 1970. He then taught at the University of Michigan Law School from 1970 to 1975 and again from 1977 to 1980.

    Prosper Weil, born September 21, 1926 in Strasbourg, is a French lawyer, professor emeritus of the University of Paris II: Panthéon-Assas law school, and a member of the Institut de France (Académie des sciences morales et politiques) since 1999. His doctoral thesis, titled "Les conséquences de l’annulation d’un acte administratif pour excès de pouvoir" earned him the "Prix de thèse de la Faculté de droit de Paris".

  4. Alan Viani

    Alan Viani was head of the Department of Research at DC37, the largest municipal union in New York City, from 1973 to 1985. He was later involved with resolving the 2005 NYC transit strike. In 1965, Viani helped lead a strike by over eight thousand workers for the New York City Department of Welfare. The strike was largely successful, as it led to a clear statement of the rights of city employess to collective bargaining.

  6. George W. Taylor

    George W. Taylor (July 10, 1901 - December 15, 1972) was a notable professor of industrial relations at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and is credited with founding the academic field of study known as industrial relations. He served in several capacities in the federal government, most notably as a mediator and arbitrator. During his career, Taylor settled more than 2,000 strikes.

    Frances Margaret Kirkham is a British Judge and member of the Judicial Appointments Commission. Kirkham became a solicitor in 1978. She is also a Chartered Arbitrator. In October 2000 she became a Senior Circuit Judge and is the designated Technology and Construction Court judge in Birmingham. She founded West Midlands Association of Women Solicitors and is a founder member of the UK Association of Women Judges.

  9. Alan B. Gold

    Alan Bernard Gold (1917 - May 15 2005) was the chief justice of the Quebec Superior Court from 1983 to 1992. He was born in Montreal in 1917. In 1938, he received a B.A. from Queen's University and a doctorate in civil law from the University of Montreal in 1941. He was called to the Bar of Quebec in 1942, but first served with the Royal Canadian Artillery during World War II. As an arbitrator, he helped avoid a strike by the longshoremen at the Port of Montreal in 1968.

    H. Carl Goldenberg (October 20, 1907 - July 22, 1996), O.C., O.B.E., Q.C., M.A., B.C.L., LL.D. was a Canadian lawyer, arbitrator, mediator, and senator who is best known for his work as an arbitrator in major labour management disputes. Born in Montreal, Quebec, he studied law at McGill University. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire for his work during World War II.

  13. Eliyahu Winograd

    Eliyahu Winograd is a former Israeli acting Supreme Court judge and former president of the Tel Aviv District Court. As of September 11, 2006, he chairs the Winograd Commission to investigate the failures experienced by Israel during the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict. Winograd holds a PhD in Law from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was appointed as a judge in 1972 and was eventually appointed president of the Tel Aviv District Court.

  14. Malcolm M. Lucas

    Malcolm M. Lucas was the 26th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of California. He was appointed to the position after his predecessor, Rose Bird was removed by the electorate in 1986 because of her constant opposition to capital punishment. In stark contrast to the liberal tendencies of the Bird court, the decisions of the Lucas court tended to adhere to the textualist approach typically favored by social conservatives.

    Joshua Bates (1788-1864) was an American financier, born in Weymouth, Massachusetts. A merchant and a banker, in 1828 he became associated with the great house of Baring Brothers & Co. of London, of which he eventually became the senior partner. He was umpire of the commission convened in 1853 to arbitrate the claims of American citizens arising from the War of 1812. He became a British Citizen in 1842.

    Ana María Polo is a Cuban-American lawyer who has become famous among Hispanic television viewers in the United States, as arbitrator in "Caso Cerrado". Polo, who fled Cuba's Communism with her family, grew up partly in Miami and partly in Puerto Rico, where she attended Academia del Perpetuo Socorro. She had an early marriage that ended in divorce, has one adult son, and remarried in 2001.

    George Sutton Patterson was a Canadian diplomat and representative on UNTCOK. After the United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution on UNTCOK on 14 November, Canadian Secretary of State for External Affairs, Lester B Pearson cabled George Patterson, who at the time was posted in Tokyo, to ask him to become Canada's representative on UNTCOK. This was a heavy responsibility, particularly in light of Soviet intimation boycotting UNTCOK.

    Hi, so I'm a photo major at NIU, I'll be here it seems like forever (5 1/2 year senior!)...an' im just trying to graduate an' move on to the next phase of my life. I also ski, golf, rollerblade (aggressive), play tennis, soccer, volleyball, rock climb, sky dive, softball, football, and just about anything else. I also play cards a lot.
