Rachael Domenica Ray (born August 25, 1968 in Glens Falls, New York) is an Emmy-award winning television personality and author, who currently hosts the syndicated talk/lifestyle program "Rachael Ray" and two Food Network series, "30 Minute Meals" and "Rachael Ray's Tasty Travels". Ray has also written a series of cookbooks based on the "30 Minute Meals" concept, and launched a magazine, "Every Day with Rachael Ray", in 2005.

I was born into cooking. My first vivid memory is watching Mom in a restaurant kitchen. She was flipping something with a spatula. I tried to copy her and ended up grilling my right thumb! I was 3 or 4. Everyone on both sides of my family cooks." My maternal grandfather grew and cooked everything that his family of 12 needed for sustenance, and my dad's family was steeped in the food-rich traditions of Louisiana.

I am a poor college student at UW-L and I am an Elementary Ed/Special Ed major. I listen to music pretty much any time that I can and I wish I had any musical talent, which I don't. I really wish that I could have a dog and I pretty much cry whenever I see one. I love to spend my summers camping, canoeing, whitewater rafting, etc. I wish I could travel more. I read a lot during the summer but during school I can only read textbooks.
