    Phil Jones is an English sports journalist and television reporter. After obtaining diplomas with distinction in journalism, law, and public administration from Richmond Journalist College in Sheffield (which has since merged with the University of Sheffield), Jones' began his career in print and radio journalism. He covered news and sports for the Manchester-based David Burke Press Agency, as well as writing regular columns for the "Manchester Evening News".

    Arne Christer Fuglesang (born March 18, 1957) is a Swedish scientist and an ESA astronaut. He was launched aboard the STS-116 Shuttle mission on 10 December, 2006, at 01:47 GMT, making him the first Swede and the first Nordic citizen in space.

  3. Michael Perham

    Michael Perham (born 16 March 1992 in Hertfordshire, England) is a boy from Potters Bar who, at the age of 14, became the youngest person to sail the Atlantic Ocean single-handed when he helmed the 29 foot (9 metres) "Cheeky Monkey" between Gibraltar and Antigua with repair stops in the Canary Islands and Cape Verde between 18 November 2006 and 3 January 2007. He sailed into Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua at 14:00 GMT after a 3500-mile voyage.

  4. Georgi Ivanov

    Georgi Ivanov (born Georgi Kakalov, born July 2, 1940) is the first Bulgarian cosmonaut. He was a Member of the National Assembly of Bulgaria in 1990. Born in Lovech, Georgi Kakalov attended the Military Air-force School in Dolna Mitropolia. After completing the 5-year education, he served in the Bulgarian National Army as a military pilot. A few years later he became an instructor and head of a division.

  5. Abdul Ahad Mohmand

    Abdul Ahad Mohmand became the first cosmonaut from Afghanistan. He spent nine days in space aboard the Mir space station in 1988. This historical mission has earned him and his country the title of being the first to space before anyone from the United Kingdom, Japan, China, Israel, South Africa, and many other nations of the world.

  6. Bertalan Farkas

    Bertalan Farkas was the first Hungarian cosmonaut and the first Esperantist in space. He is currently the president of Airlines Service and Trade. With Charles Simonyi's travel, Farkas is no longer the only Hungarian who has been to space. Born in Gyulaháza, he graduated from the George Kilián Aeronautical College in Szolnok in 1969. He then attended the Krasnodar Military Aviation Institute in the Soviet Union, from where he graduated in 1971.

  7. Jeff Mayo

    Jeff Mayo (October 7, 1921, 8:00 AM GMT, London - April 17, 1998,9:10 AM BST, Barnstable) was an English astrologer, astrology teacher, and astrology writer. In 1973, Mayo founded the Mayo School of Astrology in Truro, Cornwall. The school, a member of the Advisory Panel on Astrological Education (APAE), offers correspondence courses at both certificate and diploma level and issues a list of its qualified consultants who have gained its diploma (D.M.S.Astrol).

  8. Imad Kotbi

    Imad Kotbi (born June 8, 1978 in Casablanca) is a Moroccan radio presenter and a disk jockey. He is currently working for Casa FM radio station presenting a show called "Ze Kotbi Show". Kotbi is a Guinness World Record holder after broadcasting during 50 hours non-stop between December 29 at 20h 15 and December 31 2006 at 12h 15 GMT.

  9. Hemish Shah

    Hemish Shah (7 April 1968 - 5 September 2001) was an English stock broker before he became a professional poker player, and the winner of Late Night Poker series 4, where he beat the season 2 champion Simon "Aces" Trumper in the final heads-up confrontation. He won a World Series of Poker bracelet and $312,340 in 2001 for winning the $5,000 Limit Texas Hold-em event. During the event he had to leave the table as he was suffering from stomach cramps.

  10. John Goldingham

    John Goldingham was the first official astronomer of the Madras Observatory, appointed in 1802. Goldingham headed the Madras Survey School later which grew into the Guindy Engineering College and then Anna University. Born in London in 1767, Goldingham was hired by astronomer-sailor Michael Topping as his assistant in 1788. Goldingham was put in charge of building an observatory in 1792, and later appointed as the Presidency Civil Engineer in 1800.
