  1. Cowasji Jehangir

    Sir Cowasji Jehangir, 2nd Baronet, GBE, KCIE (16 February 1879-17 October 1962) was a prominent member of the Bombay (today Mumbai) Parsi community. He was the son of Sir Jehangir Cowasji Jehangir Readymoney, 1st Bt. (1853-1934) and grand-nephew of Sir Cowasji Jehangir "Readymoney" (1812-1878). Cowasji Jehangir campaigned for a prominent role for the Parsi Zoroastrian community in independent India.

The story of the couple's infatuation for each other and the relationship that abided between them is the stuff of many (often apocryphal) legends.

    Nuruddin Salim Jahangir was the ruler of the Mughal Empire from 1605 until his death. The name Jahangir is from Persian جهانگير, meaning "Conqueror of the World," "World-Conqueror," or "Dominant over the World." Alternative spellings of the name include "Jehangir", and "Cihangir" (in Turkish). Nuruddin or Nur al-Din is an Arabic name which means "the Light of the Faith."

  4. Ladli Begum

    Ladli Begum (b. 1594) was the daughter of Nur Jahan (nee Mehrunnisa begum) by her first husband Sher Afghan. Ladli's father was executed in 1607. Her mother later wed the mughal emperor Jehangir and took the name Nur Jahan. As the favourite wife of Jehangir, Nur Jahan used her great influence to arrange the marriage of Ladli with Shahryar, son of Jehangir by a different wife. Thus, Ladli came to wed her mother's step-son.

  5. Jalal Agha

    Jalal Agha (died March 5, 1995) was an Indian actor and director. He made his debut as a child actor playing the young version of Jehangir (who was played by Dilip Kumar as a adult) in the historical epic "Mughal-E-Azam" which released in 1960. He went to appear in over 60 films from the late 1960s through to the early 1990s mostly playing supporting roles.

  6. Wheeler Thackston

    Wheeler M. Thackston, Jr. (born 1944) is an Orientalist and distinguished editor and translator of numerous Chaghatai, Arabic and Persian literary and historical sources. Thackston is a graduate of Princeton's Oriental Studies department and Harvard's Near Eastern Studies department (Ph.D., 1974), where he has been Professor of the Practice of Persian and other Near Eastern Languages since 1972.

  7. Jehangir Cowasji Jehangir Readymoney

    Sir Jehangir Cowasji Jehangir Readymoney, 1st Baronet, KCIE (8 June 1853 - 26 July 1934) was a prominent member of the Bombay (today Mumbai) Parsi community. He was the nephew and heir to the childless Sir Cowasji Jehangir "Readmoney" (1812-1878). Jehangir Cowasji Jehangir Readymoney was knighted in 1895 and created baronet in 1908. He was succeeded by Sir Cowasji Jehangir Readymoney, 2nd Bt. (1879 - 1962), who however dropped the 'Readymoney' sobriquet.

    General Jehangir Karamat was Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States from November 2004 to 2006. He is also one of very few Chiefs of Army Staff to have resigned over a disagreement with his civilian superiors. General Karamat is a graduate of the National Defence College, the Command and Staff College, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, U.S.A. He has a Masters degree in International Relations.

    Jehangir Hormujee Ruttonjee (律敦治) was a Parsee in Hong Kong. He is famous for founding the Ruttonjee Sanatorium. He also set up the "Hong Kong Anti-Tuberculosis Association".

Kothari constructed the Jehangir Kothari Parade at an expenditure of Rs. 0.3 million only at the site of his bungalow and the adjoining valuable land and presented it as a gift for the Karachiites. Jehangir Kothari Parade was inaugurated by Her Excellency Lady Lloyd Pier, on March 21, 1921.
