  1. William Dargan

    William Dargan, an engineer, often seen as the father of Irish railways came from County Carlow, Ireland. Born in 1799, he constructed Ireland's first railway from Dublin to Dún Laoghaire (then "Kingstown") in 1833. He constructed over 800 miles of railway to important urban centres of Ireland. He was a member of the Royal Dublin Society and also helped establish National Gallery of Ireland.

  2. Joseph Chatoyer

    Joseph Chatoyer (d. March 14, 1795) was a Garifuna Carib chief who led a revolt against the British colonial government of Saint Vincent in 1795. He is now considered a national hero of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. For two centuries, the indigenous Carib population of the island succeeded in resisting European attempts at colonization by retreating to the mountainous, densely forested interior of the island.

    Charles Augustus Ollivierre (born 20 July 1876 in Kingstown, St. Vincent, died 25 March 1949 at Pontefract, Yorkshire) was a coloured West Indian cricketer who toured England in 1900 and later played for Derbyshire. Initially an all-rounder he later became only an occasional bowler. Being from St. Vincent his chances to play in big cricket matches in the West Indies were limited.

  7. Shashikala Siriwardene

    H.A. Shashikala Dedunu Siriwardene (b. 14 February, 1985) in Colombo is the captain of the Sri Lankan women's cricket team. She made her ODI debut against West Indies at Kingstown, St. Vincent in March 2003. She took 2-20 and also scored a brisk 29 in that match, which was ultimately won by the Sri Lankans. Her best bowling figures of 4-11 was recorded against Pakistan in the 2005-06 Women's Asia Cup in Karachi.

    Richard Cordice Ollivierre (born 1880 in Kingstown, St. Vincent, died 5 June 1937 at New York) was a coloured West Indian cricketer who toured England in 1906. He was a right hand batsman, right arm fast bowler and useful wicket-keeper. Being from St. Vincent his chances to play in important cricket matches in the West Indies were limited.

  10. William Larminie

    William Larminie was an Irish poet and folklorist. He was born in Castlebar, County Mayo, of Huguenot descent and was educated at Kingstown School and Trinity College Dublin, from which he graduated in 1871 with a moderatorship in classics. He moved to London while he was employed in the British India Office from 1873 until 1887, at which point he retired and returned to Ireland to devote himself to writing, settling in Bray, County Wicklow.

    Frederick James Walker Kingstown, Co Dublin, Ireland an Irish motorcycle racer who competed at the Isle of Man TT Races. A hat manufacturer by trade, Frank Walker competed at the 1914 Isle of Man TT races and riding a Royal Enfield motorcycle in the Junior TT Race. After leading on the first lap, Frank Walker suffered tyre problems and eventually fell to 6th place.

    James Henry Mussen Campbell, 1st Baron Glenavy PC (April 4, 1851 – March 22, 1931) was an Irish lawyer and Lord Chancellor of Ireland. He was born in Dublin and educated at Kingstown and Dublin University, graduating BA in 1874. After being called to the Irish bar in 1878, Campbell was made an Irish Queen's Counsel in 1892 and six years later was elected Unionist Member of Parliament for the Dublin seat of St. Stephen's Green.

    John Gardner was an American farmer from South Kingstown and Narragansett, Rhode Island. He was a delegate to the Continental Congress for Rhode Island in 1789. John’s parents were Colonel John Gardner (1696-1770) and his second wife, Mary (Taylor) Gardner. He was born in South Kingstown in 1747. During the early days of the Revolutionary War he served with a militia company known as the "Kingstown Reds", and was commissioned as a Captain in November of 1775.
