Joel Fuhrman is an American family medicine physician and author. He maintains a medical practice in Flemington, New Jersey, and specializes in treating some major illnesses through nutrition and changes in diet.

Gaspard Bauhin, or Caspar Bauhin (January 17, 1560 - December 5, 1624), was a Swiss botanist, often incorrectly credited with the introduction of binomial nomenclature into taxonomy, which was much later taken up by Linnaeus. Bauhin's work, "Pinax theatri botanici" (1596), was the first to use this convention for naming of species. He also worked on human anatomical nomenclature.

Martinus Willem Beijerinck (March 16, 1851 - January 1, 1931) was a Dutch microbiologist and botanist. He was born in Amsterdam. Beijerinck was at the "Polytechnische Hogeschool Delft" (Delft Polytechnic, currently Delft University of Technology) (from 1895), among his other positions. He established the Delft School of Microbiology. His studies of agricultural microbiology and industrial microbiology yielded fundamental discoveries in the field of biology.
