- Zhou Yongkang
Zhou Yongkang (b. December 1942) is the Minister of Public Security of the People's Republic of China and thus chief of the Ministry of Public Security and the counterpart of the Director of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation. He is a State Councillor and member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He was born in 1942 in the city of Wuxi in Jiangsu Province. Wang Dan was a twenty year-old student at Beijing University when he came to international attention as one of the leaders of the pro-democracy student demonstrations in Beijing's Tian'anmen Square in the spring of 1989. Following the violent suppression of the demonstrations on June 4, Mr. Wang headed the Chinese government's most-wanted list. He was arrested and sentenced to four years in prison. Mr. Wang was released from prison in 1993, but was detained in 1995.

Jīn Xuěfēi is a contemporary Chinese-American writer using the pen name Ha Jin (哈金). Ha Jin was born in Liaoning, China in 1956. His father was a military officer, and Jin joined the People's Liberation Army in 1969 during the Cultural Revolution. In 1981 he graduated from Heilongjiang University with a Bachelor's degree in English studies, and three years later obtained his Masters in Anglo-American literature at Shandong University.

Jiang Weiping is a Chinese journalist and whistleblower, who was jailed in 2000 for violating the State Secrets Law on charges of "subversion." On January 3, 2006, Weping was released after his prison sentence, due to expire in a year, was commuted. - Feng Yuxiang
Feng Yuxiang (1882-1948) was a warlord during Republican China. As the son of an officer in the Qing Imperial Army, Feng spent his youth immersed in the military life. He joined the army at age 16 and proved himself to be hard working and motivated. Feng, like many young officers, was seduced by revolutionary romanticism and was nearly executed for treason. He later joined Yuan Shikai's Beiyang Army and converted to Christianity in 1914.

Wu Tao (born 3 October 1983 in Liaoning) is a Chinese discus thrower. He won the 2002 World Junior Championships and the 2003 Summer Universiade and finished seventh at the 2005 Summer Universiade. On the regional level he won the 2003 Asian Championships and the 2002 Asian Games. He competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2005 World Championships without reaching the finals. His personal best throw is 64.28 metres, achieved in May 2005 in Chongqing.

Yuan Chonghuan was a famed patriot and military commander of the Ming Dynasty who battled the Manchus in Liaoning. He was known to have excelled in artillery warfare and successfully incorporated western tactics into the East. - Sheng Shicai
Sheng Shicai (1897 - 1970) was a Chinese warlord who ruled Xinjiang from 1933 to 1944. A Han Chinese born in Kaiyuan, Liaoning Province, he was first sent to Xinjiang to work for Governor Jin Shuren. He repressed the Kumul Uprising with support from the Soviet Union, but in exchange made several agreements with the USSR that gave it virtual control over the Sinkiang province. At Josef Stalin's request, Sheng joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) in 1939.
