  1. Ferdinand Marcos

    Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralín Marcos was President of the Philippines from 1965 to 1986. He was a lawyer, member of the Philippine House of Representatives (1949-1959) and a member of the Philippine Senate (1959-1965). During World War II he was the leader of the so-called "Ang Maharlika" guerilla force in northern Luzon. In 1963 he became Senate President.

    Juan de Salcedo was a Spanish commander and soldier. He was known as the last of the conquistadors. Born in Mexico in 1549, Salcedo was the second eldest grandson of Miguel López de Legazpi. He joined Legazpi and brother Felipe de Salcedo in 1564 for the conquest of the Philippines at the age of 15, arriving in the East Indies in 1565. In 1569, Salcedo led an army of 300 soldiers along with Martín de Goiti for the conquest of Manila.

    Donald Eugene Rudolph, Sr. (c. 1921 - May 25 2006) was an American soldier who won his country's highest military honor, the Medal of Honor, in the Second World War. He was awarded the medal whilst serving as a sergeant and acting as leader of his platoon on Luzon island in the northern Philippines; his actions took place on 5 February 1945. Whilst giving first aid on the battlefield he noticed that his unit was pinned down by gun fire from a ditch.

    Charles Henry Brent was an American Episcopal bishop who served in the Philippines and western New York. Born in Canada and educated at Trinity College, Toronto, Brent was originally stationed in a slum parish in Boston. In 1902, after the Philippines were acquired by the United States during the Spanish-American War, the Episcopal Church appointed Brent as Missionary Bishop of the Philippines and arrived on the same ship with the American Governor, William H. Taft.

    William "Bill" A. Shomo was a United States Army fighter pilot during World War II. He is credited with scoring 8 victories during the conflict, seven during a single mission, while flying a P-51 Mustang. For his service he was awarded the Medal of Honor. For over a year, Shomo was assigned to the 82nd Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron.

    Shizuo Yokoyama (1890-1961) was a Japanese general who commanded the Shimbu Group, assigned to the defense of the Philippine Islands during the final days of the Second World War. Born in the Fukuoka prefecture, Yokoyama graduated from the Japanese Military Academy in 1912. After leaving Army Staff College in 1925, within three years he had risen to the rank of major and assigned to the Korean Army headquarters as a staff officer in 1929.

    Samuel David Dealey (13 September 1906 - 24 August 1944) was a submarine commander of the United States Navy during World War II. He was one of the most decorated officers in U.S. Navy history receiving six awards for valor. Born 13 September 1906 in Dallas, Texas, where he attended Oak Cliff High School, Dealey graduated from the Naval Academy in June 1930 and had duty in the battleship "Nevada" (BB-36) before training as a submariner.

He was appointed midshipman 15 December 1940 and commissioned ensign 14 March 1941. Ensign Lloyd served briefly aboard "Luzon" (PG-47), then reported to "Oahu" (PR-36) 26 September 1941. He was killed in action 6 May 1942 when "Oahu" was sunk at Corregidor at the close of a long and gallant defense.
