August Ferdinand Möbius (November 17, 1790 - September 26, 1868, was a German mathematician and theoretical astronomer. He was born in Schulpforta, Saxony, Germany and died in Leipzig. He is best known for his discovery of the Möbius strip, a non-orientable two-dimensional surface with only one side when embedded in three-dimensional Euclidean space. It was independently discovered by Johann Benedict Listing around the same time. - Paul Julius Möbius

Karl Wilhelm Feuerbach was a German geometer and the son of legal scholar Paul Johann Anselm Ritter von Feuerbach. After receiving his doctorate at age 22, he became a professor of mathematics at the Gymnasium at Erlangen. In 1822 he wrote a small book on mathematics noted mainly for a theorem at the bottom of one of the pages on the nine-point circle. Shortly before his death he introduced homogeneous coordinates, independently of Möbius. - Sabine John
Sabine John, née Möbius, divorced Paetz is a retired East German heptathlete. She won the silver medals at the 1982 European Championships and the 1983 World Championships, both times behind Ramona Neubert. At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul she won the silver medal.
