  4. Alva Duer

    Alva O. Duer was a college basketball coach and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and United States Olympic Committee administrator and is a member of the NAIA and Basketball Halls of Fame. He went to Stafford High School in Stafford, Kansas and was captain of the basketball team all four years he attended. He graduated from high school in 1923. He coached college basketball at Pepperdine College (Los Angeles, CA) from 1939-1948.

    Glenn Bassett was an American tennis player in the mid-20th century who later would be one of the most successful college tennis coaches of all time. Bassett was the co-captain (with Herb Flam) of the University of California at Los Angeles tennis team that won the NCAA championship 1950. Also that year, he won the singles title at the Cincinnati Masters, defeating Hamilton Richardson, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the final.

  20. Christopher Parkening

    Christopher Parkening is an American classical guitarist. Parkening was born in Los Angeles, California, and pursued music in part because of his cousin Jack Marshall, a studio musician in the 1960s. Marshall first introduced Parkening to the recordings of Andrés Segovia when he was 11, and encouraged Parkening to begin his guitar studies with classical guitar. By the time he was 19, he had won a number of competitions and was touring and recording extensively.
