  1. Charles Racquet

    Charles Racquet (1598 - 1664) was a French organist who was born and died in Paris. His family was one of organists; he was titular organist at the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris from 1618 until 1659 and his successor in this function had the same name (Racquet). He was also musician to Anne d'Autriche, the Queen Mother (mother of Louis XIV of France). He embodies the polyphonic tradition at the beginning of baroque organ.

    David Ferrer Ern is a professional tennis player from Spain. He was born in Javea, Spain and lives in Valencia, Spain. He turned professional in 2000. Ferrer is known as a particularly dangerous clay court player, though he has had several respectable results on hard courts as well, especially his back-to-back semifinal appearances at the NASDAQ-100 Open in 2005-2006.

  3. Mansour Bahrami

    Mansour Bahrami (born April 26, 1956 in Arak, Iran) is an Iranian professional tennis player. From an early age he worked as a ball boy within a sports complex in Tehran. He observed many of the best Iranian tennis players in action but he was never allowed to play. Eventually he snuck onto one of the courts but his first racquet was destroyed by an outraged armed guard who also beat him badly for his misdemeanour.

  4. Marty Riessen

    Marty Riessen (born December 4, 1941 in Hinsdale, Illinois) played amateur and professional tennis in the 1960s and 1970s. He was ranked as high as No. 11 in the world in singles on the ATP Rankings (achieving that ranking on September 4, 1974). He won six singles titles in the Open Era, with the biggest coming in Cincinnati in 1974.

  5. Miroslava Vavrinec

    Miroslava (Mirka) Vavrinec (born 1 April 1978) is a former WTA tennis player from Switzerland, who retired from the game in 2002 after a foot injury. She is the girlfriend and manager of World Number One tennis player Roger Federer. The two met at the 2000 Sydney Olympics where they were both representing Switzerland. Vavrinec, born in Slovakia, emigrated to Switzerland when she was two years old. Her parents currently own a jewelry shop and reside in Schaffhausen.

  6. Tad Weed

    Thurlow "Tad" Weed (January 18, 1933-November 7, 2006) was the placekicker for the 1954 Ohio State Buckeyes national championship team. Weed, 145 pounds, made 24 of 26 extra point attempts and one field goal in a 10-0 title run that included a 20-7 win over USC in the Rose Bowl. After college Weed spent one year in the National Football League, were he was three of six in field goal attempts and 12 of 12 in extra point attempts for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

    James Philipp Bagian, M.D., P.E. was a NASA scientific astronaut born February 22, 1952, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Married to the former Tandi M. Benson of Seattle, Washington. They have four children. He enjoys bicycling, backpacking, climbing, swimming, flying and racquet sports, as well as cabinet making and automobile rebuilding. He is an Armenian-American. His parents, Philip and Rose Bagian, reside in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

    Beth McLean , Fitness Director Beth is currently certified through ACE (American Council on Exercise) for both personal training and group exercise. She also holds certifications as a Medical Exercise Specialist, Pilate’s instructor and Indoor Cycling instructor. Beth oversees all aspects of the fitness department at the Yuba City Racquet and Health Club where she has enjoyed working since 1990.

    VONDA BARNES , INSURANCE ADMINISTRATOR Vonda was born in Peetz, Colorado, raised in Laramie and graduated from Laramie High. She and her husband, Don have three children, Amy, Shelby and Andrew, who keep them busy coaching and traveling to soccer matches. Don and Vonda own the Kourt House Racquet and Fitness Center and when they can find free time they enjoy reading, snowmobiling, outdoor activities and spending time at their family cabin.

    Pete Bakis , General Manager & CEO Pete Bakis was 9 years old when he came to the United States from Rhodes, Greece to live with his aunt and uncle to pursue his education. He received his AS in Science from Yuba College and his BS from U.C. Davis in Biochemistry. He has 18 years experience in all aspects of the health and fitness industry and has been with the Yuba City Racquet club since 1984. Pete enjoys golf, tennis, computers and gardening in his spare time.
