  2. Nicky Rackard

    (Nicholas) "Nickey" Rackard (1922-1976) was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling for Wexford in the 1950s and is regarded as one of the all-time greatest players of the game. Nickey Rackard was born in Killanne, County Wexford on April 28, 1922. The eldest of five boys his father Bob had planned for him to play cricket but his talent was for Gaelic football and hurling. Rackard was educated at St. Kieran's College in Kilkenny, a virtual hurling academy.

  3. Denis Brennan

    "Most Reverend" Denis Brennan in Enniscorthy, County Wexford has been Bishop of Ferns since April 23 2006. He is the first native of Wexford to have risen to be a bishop in almost 70 years. He received his primary education in Kiltealy National School, and his secondary education in St Peter’s College,Wexford. He then entered St Peter’s Seminary and was ordained at St Peter’s College on May 31 1970.

Born on the corner of Aungier Street in Dublin, Ireland over his father's grocery shop, his father being from an Irish speaking Gaeltacht in Kerry and his mother, Anastasia Codd, from Wexford.

  5. John Meyler

    John Meyler (born 1956) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with the Wexford and Cork senior inter-county teams in the 1970s and 1980s. He is the current manager of the Wexford senior hurling team.

  6. John Browne

    John Browne is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician. He is currently a Minister of State with special responsibility for Fisheries at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. John Browne was born in Marshalstown, County Wexford in 1948. He was educated locally at St Mary's Christian Brothers School in Enniscorthy. Browne worked as a salesman before becoming involved in politics and was also an inter-county hurler for his native county of Wexford.

    Brendan Howlin is an Irish Labour Party politician. He was elected as a Labour Party TD for Wexford in 1987 and has held his seat ever since.   8. James Ryan

    Dr. James Ryan, was a senior Irish politician. He was elected to the First Dáil at the 1918 general election and, apart from the Third Dáil (1922-1923), held his seat for Wexford until his retirement at the 1965 general election. During his long career he served as Minister for Agriculture (1932-1947), Minister for Health & Social Welfare (1947-1948 & 1951-1954) and Minister for Finance (1957-1965).

  9. Ciaran Carey

    Ciaran Carey (born 16 January, 1970) is a former Irish sportsperson who played hurling for Limerick in the 1990s. Ciaran Carey was born in Patrickswell, County Limerick in 1970. Making his senior inter-county debut in 1989, Carey played on the great Limerick hurling team of the 1990s. During his career he won several County Championship medals with his club, Patrickswell, as well as two Munster club titles.

  10. Damien Fitzhenry

    Damien Fitzhenry (born 1974) is an Irish sportsman. He plays hurling with his local club Duffry Rovers and with the Wexford senior inter-county team. He is the current goalkeeper on both teams and is widely regarded as one of the best in the current game.

  11. Gordon D'Arcy

    Gordon William D'Arcy (born February 10 1980 in Wexford) is an Irish rugby player, more specifically an inside centre. He plays his club rugby for the Irish provincial and Magners League side Leinster. D'Arcy was a promising fullback for schools side Clongowes Wood in the late 1990s, and on the eve of his Leaving Cert was called into the Irish squad for the tour of South Africa by coach Warren Gatland. However, because of his studies he declined that opportunity.

    Dick Roche is a senior Irish Fianna Fáil politician. He is currently a TD for Wicklow. Roche has also served in Seanad Éireann (1993–1997). He is married with four grown-up children. Roche's grandfather, Jem Roche, was a one-time heavyweight boxing champion of Ireland who also fought unsuccessfully for the world title.

  14. Liam Kearns

    Liam Kearns is the manager of the Laois gaelic football team. Tralee man Kearns, whose mother is from Laois, was appointed as Mick O'Dwyer’s successor in September 2006. He previously managed Limerick for six years and helped to raise the county’s profile in that time. In being appointed he saw off the challenge of former Laois star Pat Roe, who had a successful spell in charge of Wexford.

  17. David O'Connor

    David O'Connor was the winner of the 2007 "You're A Star" competition in Ireland. David comes from County Wexford. He works with famous horse trainer Colin Murphy. After singing, his second passion is horse training. The former jockey had an accident after 25 races, but still remains loyal to the sport. In 2004 David represented Ireland in the "World Karaoke Championships". David has often been compared to the singer Daniel O'Donnell.

  18. Art Foley

    Art Foley was a "Wexford" goalkeeper from 1946 to 1956. He was small for a goalkeeper but very solid and strong. He played with the St. Aidans of Enniscorthy also as the netminder. His quick hands in goal made him an important member of the Wexford team, but confidence and inconsistency was something he lacked in the early days when in the Wexford goal, which in turn meant he was dropped on numerous occasions and failed to stamp his position fully in the team.

    Paul Kehoe is an Irish Fine Gael politician. He is currently the Fine Gael Chief Whip. Paul Kehoe was born in Bree, County Wexford.     Michael D'Arcy is a retired Irish Fine Gael politician, and a former TD for the constituency of Wexford. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann in the 1977 General Election and held it until the 1987 General Election when he lost it to Brendan Howlin of Labour. He was re-elected at the 1989 General Election at the expense of party colleague Avril Doyle but she regained his seat at the 1992 election. He was then elected to the 20th Seanad on the Agricultural Panel.
